THOR #12329
Area 51,big dune aka amagosa dunes nev.

WE FINALLY GOT THE TIME TO TAKE THE NEW THOR 29M CAMPING..the trip was great!!! got the wind noise stopped ,so DB reading were middle 50's most of the trip..pulled a triple axel 22' trailer loaded with 2 rzr 1000's fire wood , bb/q and everything else...went north out of vegas… lots of hills... I always say it's up hill both ways...lol..the V-10 did a fine job, and the chassis in stock form, no mods worked as it should.... easy to drive...smooth and quiet..as with anytime towing, could use just a little more power....never can have too much... kept her on cruise @ 65 mph....only a couple times did it drop below that....I'm running right at 23,000 lbs... so kinda took it easy...@ 65 i'm doing 2000 rpm, the trans shifed spot on,.. little up hills down shifted to 5th and ran about 2400... pulled most everything that way...no hunting, stayed in 5th... on steeper hills it dropped to 4th,@ 3200 rpms... so all good there..

we went out to big dune...aka amagosa dunes.. now aka area 51 (doesn't exist...lol)..just before the dunes there are two casino/restaurant's , gas stations, and a cat house ,.. so space aliens up front, illegal aliens in the rear....

this is a great place to go get away from it all, and good dune riding pretty much to your self...My wife and I both have rzr's so always a ride out if you break, or get stuck

Glad to see your old Boy Scout's training at work...got rocks around that fire pit. Sure wouldn't want you burn down the desert!! LOL Nice pics and great boondocking!! With all the majestic features of these new MH's, I still feel boondocking is the best experience. One more reason I'll pull a trailer also...take more convenience items for the "outback".

it's a fun get away spot, but not for HEY-LAMS,...(hey look at me)...they seem to like glamis and Dumont better...and I'm very good with that...most seem to give others space and respect here...

I have my trailer set up as a chuck wagon for dining with friends..some times, or a lot of the times the wind kicks up,... we all go in and get out of the wind

Looks like a lot of fun.

You peeled your stickers (Graphics) off of your Hurricane as well? Looks naked... But your Vegas was running around Naked as well.

Why dont you do a search on "Naked RVers" and see what you find. LOL.

they're gonna go bad quick in the desert, so might as well get them off early so they don't ghost...

Yep, your correct. Did you trade your old Vegas for this new Hurricane? if so what did they say about the "Naked Vegas"? Did they nick ya on the trade in price?

nope, traded it in on a Fleetwood pace arrow DP...they gave me all the money for that little coach... lots of mods done... it sold fast to a guy in vegas… wonder if he visits here...the one thing they complained about was the sofa seat height... too high, new owner made them put the stock one back in..

Oh, I thought you traded it in on the Hurricane you have now.... So Vegas, then Pace Arrow, then Hurricane?

yes sir...this hurricane rides better and is quieter, less rattles than both our new pace arrow and excursion diesel pushers...but doesn't compare to the alpine we had...that had 400hp 1200 tq on a peak chassis... only draw back was the age...

Wow, Its quieter than a DP? Maybe the DP had more rattles and squeaks but the Engine on the DP was much quieter in the cockpit.... right?

Good to know. Im suprized.... I figured most DP are air ride which in my mind translates to be smoother... therfore more quieter inside the RV.

So really unless Im gong to tow like 10K# + no reason to spend the big bucks for a DP for my needs.

I like Gas coaches just fine.
