Asheville NC Camping

Planning a trip for next year. Would like to stay around the Asheville area. I am looking for suggestions on what campgrounds the group recommends. I look at reviews but sometimes you can't trust them. I figure I can get some honest answers good or bad on this forum.

Mama Gerties Hideaway is the best in the area. The campground is on the side of the mountain with the more expensive spots on the top, but all sites have a great view of the valley below.

I stayed here a while back when daughter was in surgery at hospital. Loved it and would go back. Showers were clean but small and a tad dated (I use the shower in the RV...that's a big benefit). Upper section gets noisy from freeway but not bad at all...depends on the season and foliage. Lower section, not at all but more open. Upper section is very shady...lower is more open. Easy access to freeway and town center. Be careful with Mama Gertie's...they will book you into one the primo sites on the top but seems "the people there decided to stay another day or two" when you get there.

Thi park was a pleasant surprise for my wife and I. It is clean and in a gorgeous setting. It is about 10 minutes from downtown Asheville. Some of the sites are full hook up with electric, sewer and water. There are many biking and hiking trails within walking distance of the campground. We felt like we were way away from town when we wanted the quiet, and the amenities of the city were very close.
