Avoiding Chicago

Need some ideas getting from Wakarusa In. to Fond du lac WI.
Drove it there on a Sunday morning and it wasn't that bad towing the Jeep behind our class C. Drove back home on a Monday and the traffic around Chicago with the construction is terrible. I drove on I294 so that is what i'm trying to avoid.
Any Ideas would help.

Thanks
Pete

How about the SS Badger, Lake Michigan ferry from Manitowoc Wi to Ludington Mi? I checked it will take Busses and RVs.

I live in a suburb of Chicago and avoid Chicago for other reasons than traffic!

When we were travelling east, we went south on I39 and then east to Kankakee stopping at a KOA there. Then, we zig-zagged north and east to White Pigeon, MI where we had an appointment at Quadra Manufacturing to install Big Foot levellers. While not a direct route and not all Interstates, we missed much of the commercial traffic on I94 & I90 and enjoyed the countryside in a more leisurely manner.

If it is your intent to avoid 294 and 94 through the North side suburbs, then take I80 through NW Indiana into Illinois stay on 80 through Joliet to I39 north. Just north of Rockford pick up I43 back to Milwaukee and pick up I94 again. Might add around 100 miles to your trip but keeps u out of Chicago traffic.
