Bears Ears, Utah

We're hoping to head out there for some camping/hiking in Sept this year...hopefully before the drilling starts!!
Does anyone have any suggestions for where to camp? This'll be the longest trip in our new Miramar 35.2, and all ideas will be welcome!!

Thanx in advance,
Michael

Cedar Mesa was drilled extensively in the 50's. As far as I know nothing was found not even the nuke stuff. They left lots of drill hole pads about that make great camping spots! Looks like you have a motor home so best bet is the RV park in Blanding. Or if you want to boon dock I suggest Comb Wash about 14 miles West of Blanding on hiway 95. Lots of space pretty flat , some pit toilets. Be prepared for some blind, very sharp curves and steep grades but good road.
Bears Ears is much smaller than originally proposed. Most all of Comb Ridge is still in Bears Ears. Oh, only one paved road, hiway 95 and no camp grounds in the Bears Ears, exception Natural Bridges. Only two paved pull outs that I can recall? Lots of good hiking there.

road was in good shape when we were there this past summer.
drove the Jeep over from Dalton Springs, USFS CG near Monticello.
We dry camped there for two weeks while exploring the whole area.
The Natural Bridges CG didn't look to bad for NPS.
