Both are worthy stops. We did them a few years apart and stayed on down the road, so can't be much help.

If you don't get a specific rec, try apps like RVParky or AllStays. There campgrounds in the area.

We used Whispering Hill in Georgetown when we visited the ark. We have stayed there twice and it is a nice campground. If you have time you might also want to do a tour at the Toyota Plant in Georgetown. Worth the trip. They ride you through the plant in train cars and you get an up close view of cars being assembled. Another interesting place close by is the Kentucky Horse Park just off I-75 near Georgetown. They have a huge campground with water and electric but they have two nice dump stations. There is a museum about horses there and always seems to be riding events going on.

Thanks Bob. We only have 1 full day in Kentucky. Ark is our primary reason for being in KY

Maria has some questions for you

Is there enough time to do the ark and toyota tour in the same day???

How long is each tour?

Is the ark a guided or self guided tour.

If both can be done in 1 day what would you do first

Thanks. Jerry

We just did the Ark in July with 2 of our grandkids, It’s self guided.. Pretty much an all day visit…..Totally worth it…..

Jerry, the Ark is self-guided and takes at least half a day. Don't thing you could do both in one day.

We went in early September and stayed at the 3 springs RV park in Corinth KY. Reasonable rates, W/E only but good dump on the exit and they have a honey wagon that will pump for $10 as I recall. Scenic place and quiet. Convenient location, we were there 4 nights and also visited the KY horse park.

We stayed at 3 springs a few years ago. As we drove down the road to the cg it was like a scene from deliverance. Banjo and all. Friendly staff but I won't go back there

It was a little rough looking on the road in, but we didn't spend time stopping on that road anyway. Yes a nice crew and well kept. It's not a resort and doesn't charge like one either. If I had any intentions to return I wouldn't have qualms about staying there again.

For the record I've been in real deliverance type country in WV, KY and NC and the road into the campground pales by comparison.

Another vote for the KY Horse Park. The sate park campground is adjacent and will give you a golf cart ride to and from the Horse Park State Park. Discounted tickets are available for those staying at the campground. Get here early and help harness the pair of 2,400 lb Shire geldings. These are really "gentle giants".
KY has many great Resort State Parks one of the most interesting with the worst campground is the Falls of the Cumberland. When the moon-bow appears, it is magical. The hidden gem is Breaks Interstate Park. It is located along the Russel Forks river which carved the Breaks canon, one of the steepest and deepest canons in the eastern US. The view from the lodge is spectacular to say the least.

Sounds kinda like cruising through small towns in West Virginia...

But I'm not surprised because that's where I grew up...

Haha! I resemble that statement. I grew up in a holler off North Charleston, dog town. Wife from Gauley Bridge. And I do have relatives who play the banjo on the front porch up Kimberly holler!

Familiar places. In then 80s I flew helicopter for the state mostly for Department Of Natural Resources and most was mine site inspection for reclamation. On an occasion we landed deep in a hollow at a deep mine. Mine executives met the state DNR folks and off they went leaving me with the copter. As often happens kids come out. I look out about 50' and out of the woods come a herd of them and they lined up side by side according to height. Boys, girls from about 3 to teens. They all looked the same. Same facial and body types. Family tree had 1 branch. It was kind of unnerving but they were harmless. I did tell the state guys to be back well before dark.

This location made Logan look like an upscale city and Man a progressive suburb.

Try the Kentucky Horse Park. Then if you have any interest in Horse racing you can tour the Horse Park too.

Great campground with nice sites and a pretty cool pool.
