Route 66

Planning a trip on Route 66. Any suggestions or recommendations? Would love to hear from people who have done this in an rv.

Antenna

I have a question. Our 2017 freedom Elite. Does it have an antenna that cranks up or does it just turn

Don't forget the musical road part of Route 66:

I made the trip many, many moons ago on a 2009 750CC Honda Shadow that I had triked. Was a very interesting trip in that I wondered off I-40 and back on as I found sections of Route 66 that caught my interest.

Best "tourist trap", and I say that with a genuine fondness, is Seligman, Arizona. Very nice, very clean, very reasonable and when I went through (2010) it had newly paved roads.

Enjoy the trip.

We did portions of Route 66 on our trip out West back in April/May. Lots to see and do. One of the fun things we did was to visit the “corner” in Winslow, AZ. Lots of old folks like ourselves taking lots of pictures. Brought back lots of memories.

Was there last October “just standing on the corner.” We camped not far from it. Really nice tourist spot. Glad we took the side trip and went by.

We were in Winslow back in 2013, also stopped at Meteor Crater (not really on Route 66 but cool nonetheless) and in Holbrook to see the Wigwam Motel.

We've also been on parts of Route 66 between Chicago and St. Louis (make sure you stop at the Route 66 Association Hall of Fame and Museum in Pontiac, IL).

The Calico Ghost Town outside of Barstow and Peggy's Diner are both good stops. Oatman AZ outside of Kingman is a must see. The road getting there is the steepest climb of the old Route 66.

Seligman, AZ is on route 66. We traveled from Sedona to Las Vegas a lot and always stopped at the A&W in Seligman. Right across the street from the famous Roadkill Cafe.

Along with the others mentioned, there is Tucumcari, NM. The Big Texan steak house in Amarillo where you can have 64 oz. steak with trimmings free if you can eat it all in an hour.
