Boondocking Question

Okay this may be a dumb question but when traveling were can you purchase water to fill the fresh water tank? I know there are place to dump, but do they usually have water available to fill your fresh water tank?

Boondocking

I always carry a fresh water filler hose with a shut off valve and the anti freeze pump which I use to pump water from a jug or bucket into the fresh water tank.

Water

Just in case, get a "water mule" to get water from a non-threaded faucet.

The only `water mule ` is me as I do not know what the term means.

Water Bandit

I have one, have not used it yet, but it may come in quite handy one of these days. Many water spigots are not threaded at campgrounds.

"Water Mule" is also sometimes called a "Water Thief" or "Water Bandit" (Water Bandit is what Camping World calls it).

We've had one for years, moving it from camper to camper, never used it, however.

Fresh water can be found just about everywhere--even dump stations but you have to look carefully at dump stations as there is usually two water spigots: one fresh water and one just to rinse out the hoses (non-sanitary).

Typically you don't have to pay for it either.

You could always try a local Fire Company... If they don't fill it: they could probably point you in the right direction.

Where can you get those "Water Bandits"? That looks like one of those little items that you'll carry around until you almost forget about it...

... and then you'll find yourself needing it!

I've pulled into campgrounds and ask if I can pay to fill tank even though I'm not staying there. This is their business...making campers happy. I've never been told no and you can get their pampers and maybe stay with them another time. One guy did say $5...I paid him and he probably put it in his pocket but it was the only time I was ever charged. If the office is closed just pull into an empty site, fill fast and leave.

We are particular on the drinking and cooking water.
At home, we have the many filtered, reverse osmosis water that we put into a couple 5 gallon coolers, and this is for drinking or cooking we take with us (on the checklist).
The holding tank is for washing, toilet, etc.
Just our quirkiness!

When the big drinking coolers empty out, Walmart usually sells filtered water for about $2 to fill 5 gallons.

Now, I imagine, if you wanted to spare the room it would take, a reverse osmosis system could be put into the MH, but I think that would create extra hassle, and steps, when winterizing.
You do not want that anti freeze going through that system at all.

And Gritz, sneaking in and out on the sly, too funny!

As a kid: I used to drink right out of the stream in my backyard...
If that didn't kill me: I should be good with anything I encounter in a campground water system...

Drinking out of the garden hose was almost like drinking Perrier to us!

Yep, I had left it behind last long trip. I had to ask a CG host to fill from his. From where? Amazon of course.

Next time just go on back to the RV section and getcha one of these:

Hook it to the hose and you probably get better water than what come out of those machines.
