Cross-Country...what a USA we have!

We just finished 22days on the road from Gulf Breeze, Fl to Seal Beach, Ca. We bought our Thor Axis 25.2 in January '17 and after a few checkout weekends we left in June and got back in July, with our three Chihuahuas. Best RV park had to be the Naval Facility at Seal Beach, the Seabreeze RV Park. The worst was the Grand Canyon R V park. Big mistake was going Southwest in June...120 degrees in Vegas. Love our RUV and the E450, V-10. Ran like a champ though the mountains and desert.

I'm jealous. Sounds like a great trip.

How did the air conditioning handle the southwest heat?

Do you have to be retired military to access the RV park in Seal Beach?

Occupancy rule for military camp grounds (called FAMCAMPS) is active duty military, Nat'l Guard/Reserves, retired military, and DOD civilians. Most FAMCAMPS are on military bases requiring a DOD ID card. Several are off base at lakes or on federal land. Those off base will require the camper to show their DOD ID card as proof of eligibility.

They are a good deal - many have full hookup with rates between $20 and $35. Many are first come, first served. Many also require reservations. Info is available on-line by doing a search on "Military FAMCAMP. ". There is also an excellent printed guide sold in virtually every Base/Post Exchange store.

Also with FAMCAMPS some of those that require reservations are also first come first served with the sites. Although you have a reservation it only only allows you to pick a site that is open and does not guarantee a specific site. You may end up in overflow until a full hookup site opens up.

we just recently returned from a trip to Grand Canyon ourselves. Curious, which park was that as your worst?
Trailer Village, GC Camper Village just out of the park, or someplace else?

We ended up dispersed camping in the NF when we had to give up our Trailer Village reservations becasue of a date change.... but we checked out the GC Camper Village park in Tusayan....was not impressed!!!
