Dispersed camping between Tuscon Az and Las Cruces NM

Hello Everyone

Looking for a good area between Tuscon Az and Las Cruces NM to do some dispersed camping. Headed to Texas from Quartzsite, wanting to keep the travel time between 5 and 6 hours per day.

Thanks for any input.

Literally any offramp without a structure on it.
There are hundreds of them.

This may help..

Breakarea 22 - Las Cruces, NM to Tuscon, AZ

Arizona – RV Dump Stations
https://www.rvdumps.com/arizona/

Note: Old Tucson is closed down. They shut down for the pandemic back in May 2020 and they went out of business in September 2020 with no revenue coming in. There was a recent article saying Pima County will be announing a buyer soon and they hope to reopen in the future.
Option 22A - Old Ajo Highway Campground, tucson Estates, Arizona, FREE,Old Ajo BLM land was our savior. There is LOTS of space to park, access is easy - we are almost 60' long and were able to navigate in with ease, the land is level and the area is clean. We felt totally safe here and did not see any long term residents. Link = https://freecampsites.net/#!248939&query=sitedetails

Option 22B - Gordon Hirabayashi Campground,$5 senior pass,Big oaks mix with mesquite, catclaw and manzanita here in the elevations just above Molino Canyon. Views are dominated by the rocky slopes of nearby peaks. The Arizona Trail -- which extends from Mexico to Utah -- passes through this campground. A corral is available for riding and pack stock. The Aspen Fire burned this area in 2003, but most of the big oaks remain. Some nearby ruins of the historic Prison Camp are now more visible.Accessible to persons with disabilities. Directions:Take the Catalina Highway off Tanque Verde Road in Tucson. Drive 4.2 miles to the Forest boundary and continue approximately 7 miles to the campground. As you go up the mountain, the campground entrance is on your left. Link = https://freecampsites.net/#!13019&query=sitedetails

Option 22C - Snyder Hill BLM
,Tucson, Arizona,FREE,Free dry camping just off Highway 86 and S San Joaquin Rd. This is a little patch of BLM in the middle of major development. Nicer than you might expect. Desert trees and a picturesque rocky hillside. Link = https://freecampsites.net/#!1017&query=sitedetails

BreakArea 23 - Florence Arizona
Arizona – RV Dump Stations
https://www.rvdumps.com/arizona/

Option 23A - E96 Ranch Road 9,FREE,The road in is Dirt and 5 miles from a paved road. There are 1-5 campsites at this location and the maximum RV length is unlimited,Activities:OHV,Biking,Hiking,Horse Trails,Hunting,Wildlife Viewing, link = https://freecampsites.net/#!31393&query=sitedetails

Las Cruses

Option 21A - Caballo Lake State Park, $4
Option 21B - Aguirre Spring,$3.50 senior pass,Aguirre Springs Road
Las Cruces, New Mexico, There is a great 4 mile hike ,There is great water at the entrance only. Pit toilets. We found it to be very clean and peaceful. Friendly, knowledgeable camp host. Yes this campground is as advertise, and it was mild when we stayed in February. And yes there is a water faucet at the camp host site, however, it is not at the campground directly but 3.8 miles from the campground itself. There is a little pull off from the road and one will need a 50 ft garden hose to reach your RV. We almost missed it, thinking the campground host is located at the campsite itself. Link = https://freecampsites.net/#!63187&query=sitedetails
Option 21C - Baylor Canyon,Baylor Canyon Road
Las Cruces, New Mexico, FREE,Free, dispersed camping on BLM land. Look for pull offs along the road. A friend had me a bit concerned about free camping in Las Cruces but as there is a Walmart & Cracker Barrel nearby, I decided to give it a shot. I’m happy I did! Easy to park, not too crowded and a mix of vans, RVs, trailers. There are free roaming cows and the lot is right at a trailhead. As a single female w/a dog, I felt comfy and would stay here again. P.S. White Sands at sunset, about an hour away, is epic! Link = https://freecampsites.net/#!27756&query=sitedetails
Option 21D - Organ Mountain-Desert Peaks National Monument, free,The road in is Dirt. There are 1-5 campsites at this location. link = https://freecampsites.net/#!96098&query=sitedetails

Thanks again for the info....Scubawise do you still ride bikes.

For my street bike I currently have a HD FXD, a KTM 1190 Adventure and a KTM 500 EXC. We take the 500 on the back with a Versa-Hauler.

I wanted to take the Adventure bike on the Versa-Hauler, but I think it might be a bit much. My Versa-Hauler is the Sport Model and is rated at 600lbs. The Adventure bike is 490 lbs. but not sure if the tow hitch will be strong enough. The weight of the bike is about 3 feet past the front of the hitch. The 500 is only about 250 lbs. so I feel more confident.

I have seen some broken hitches on this and other forums and it's kind of concerning. I also carry a spare tire off of the Versa-Hauler. I run no drop hitch, but the weight is about 3 feet from the face of the trailer hitch.

BLM land

I found lots of free boondocking sites in Arizona by searching for BLM lands. One very popular area is Indian Bread Rocks. We got in with our Thor Axis 24.1. https://www.blm.gov/visit/indian-bre...ks-picnic-area
