I just use good 'ol google maps, on my phone or laptop.... find a point in the direction you are thinking of traveling, click on it, click on 'directions', and it will tell you how 'far' or how much 'time' it thinks it will take you to arrive there.... if that's too far, repoint to a closer place on the map - you're only looking for a general idea, anyway.
Google maps will also show you campgrounds and rv parks in that region by simply typing 'campground' in the search bar while you are showing the area you want to land in...
zooming in often reveals even more rv parks and camping options...including links to their phone numbers, website, and you can change to satellite view to zoom in and 'see' the overview of the facility or location...
It's difficult to do all of that, easily, on most any other app or software.
You can do all of this 'on the go', even without a laptop or computer, if you have a smartphone, and simply use the google maps app.
