Food for thought

The only reason some municipalities prohibit overnight parking at Walmart etc... is because they are money hungry and want your overnight lodging tax. They will get the fee either through you using a campground or through a fine for illegally parking overnight.

These communities can talk safety etc all they want but it boils down to the community being money hungry and not worthy of an overnight stay. Roll on down the road and enjoy yourself.

No different than those communities that want to travelers to pay for stadiums or other pet projects through lodging taxes or other BS fees attached to hotel or campground receipts.

About a week ago some idiot was camping at a Walmart. He cooked his breakfast in a BBQ he had with him. Then he decides to go into the store so he put the BBQ inside his van and covered it with flammable items, real genius this one. Well it so happens that another person with apparent lack of mental faculties had parked her van next to his and left her two daughters inside as she did her shopping. The first van caught fire which quickly engulfed the second and even a third. The two girls luckily were rescued without harm.

This is why it will be harder in the future to find store parking lots welcoming rvs. They will put up more signs and enforcement in an attempt to remove their possible liabilities.

I just spend the $40+- and get a campsite. KOA us usually around that price, are clean with helpful staff

Did this many nights on my 6000 mile dc trip. Slept good not worrying about tweakers messing with the jeep and no noise from trucks etc
