The Allstays App for Apple has about every campground in the US and Canada. Below is a picture of the area around Yosemite with one of the campgrounds. Allstays has private and public campgrounds (state, local and national) and it is on a map so you can search along a route.

You can also try RV Park Reviews. I usually check out any campground I haven't been to before on that website..

Regardless of which site you get the reviews from you'll have read between the lines on most. It constantly bugs me at how many give bad reviews for the entire park because the "free" wifi is weak, if you absolutely require wifi, BRING YOUR OWN. I will admit that 95% of parks wifi is weak to nonexistent, but we have our own secured wifi. And sorry to offend anyone, but if you'll notice that the majority of the negative reviews say "we stayed there in a motor home", don't know if they expected too much, didn't research before going, or just too hard to please. You'll learn to weed out the ones that give bad reviews for the features you won't/don't use/need, ie showers, bathrooms, laundry, playground, dog run, pool. I've even read one that gave the very nice park a very bad review because it didn't furnish dog poop bags, you have a dog, bring your own damn bags or leave the dog at home.

Earlier this winter, I was looking into hotels/motels for a couple nights about 2 hours from home. The reviews on all the reasonably priced ones were so bad that we took the RV instead.
Another suggestion is to look up potential campgrounds on G Earth or G Maps in terrain mode. You can check out the area surrounding the cg.

Last night we camped at a local campground..15 minutes from home..on the Missouri River near Centennial Bridge, Leavenworth,KS Beautiful evening !
Elec. only w/dump station and new restrooms/shower building...this site is nothing fancy..railroad tracks near...but a nice, quick getaway ..
Just saying, do not overlook a nearby location when you only have a day to getaway from it all !

Arizona State Parks

We haven't been out a lot since we bought our Hurricane last May, but I do have to say the best stays we've had so far have been in Arizona State Parks. The RV sites are spacious, with nice views, trees, picnic tables, fire rings, etc.

While we haven't had any long stays (4 nights the longest), we have been so impressed with the parks so far. The ones we've stayed at had water and electric...enough for us at the time...and CLEAN bathroom/shower facilities.

We have no dish or satellite, but we bring a bunch of old TV westerns on DVD and watch those. Cell service can be spotty, but enough to retrieve emails (on iPad) and to make and receive phone calls.

The 3 we've visited so far are:

Patagonia Lake State Park
Lake Havasu State Park
Roper Lake State Park

We look forward to visiting many more, and perhaps some in other states as well!

A couple years ago...we stayed at the KOA in Page and did the North Rim, Slot Canyon and all the other area spots of interest.

This year, going through Albuq..then South Rim...what and where do you recommend...we will, most likely, wind up in Las Vegas as we have a close friend there...(in 2014 we did that trip..but did not go to South Rim..we were more destined to hit 'Vegas, then Valley of Fire/Zion & Bryce, etc.) So, any suggestions will be appreciated ! (I had forgotten about Lake Havasu !..that would be interesting )

Our favorites are:

Morro Bay State Park, CA
Patagonia State Park, AZ
Dead Horse State Park, AZ (Pictured)

Most Arizona State Parks with RV facilities are very good.
Need more vacation time to explore the west coast.

Thankyou for the AZ recommendations !

Sunday/Monday we stayed at Lake Shawnee Campground, Topeka, KS
We were pre-season so had plenty of room. This place is crazy busy on holidays and summer months.

Actually: Detroit water is some of the cleanest in the nation. It was only when Flint switched away from Detroit water that it had its problems.

I don't know why, maybe because I have three dogs, but I'm always happier at state campgrounds than private ones. If feel like it suits us better, myob and taking lots of walks, especially near water.

I use RV parky, reserve America, Google satellite maps, and internet reviews.

Hi Ron & Kay - just saw your message today! Sorry for the delay!.

I'm afraid to say that we're not at all familiar with any of the other RV parks & campgrounds on or near the lake. We've never stayed anywhere in that area with an RV before our trip this past December.

The AZ State Park we stayed in at Lake Havasu is lovely, but it doesn't have a lot of the amenities that many of the private parks have. We stayed only one night, but loved the location and the layout of the campground. We had water & electric and a nice view of the lake.

I did read up on some of the other parks in the area, and many of the them sounded nice...but again, we have no experience or personal knowledge of any of them.

Our initial plan for our overnight on that trip was to stay in the "free" parking lot area of the Blue Water Casino in Parker - about ½ hour south of Havasu. But I found the state park and we decided to give it a shot.

As for the Sedona area, again we have no personal knowledge of camping/RVing in that area. So sorry I can't be of more help there!

Hope if you're planning a trip that you have a most excellent one!

Eileen ! Thank YOU for your feedback
. In our travels, we have had 99% good experiences (or have made them good) in our choice of RV Parks.
We try to seek out areas we have not visited.
I have been curious about Lake Havasu and the 'Bridge' !

Kay when I'm considering parks I haven't been to yet and no one I know has had any experiences with I've used RV Park Reviews with excellent results.

I have no affiliation with them, however I've recently learned (from the sysadmin post) that RV Park Reviews is also ran by the same people that run the Thor Forums here...who knew??
