Thank you Larry ! Will add to my notes. Never been there...have done all the caves in Missouri and Carlsbad in New Mexico. Let's add another !

I should have said "off" I-65 S of Louisville instead of "on" but you get the picture.

We've been to Carlsbad also but Mammoth was quite impressive too. There's miles and miles of these caves and they haven't all been explored but they have separate tours at various ones. Think you will enjoy if you like this sort of thing.

Also, the campground inside the park is within walking distance of where you sign up for the cave tours. They then bus you to the cave entrance a couple of miles or so away.

It was one of our first campgrounds visited after we picked up our Axis in Elkhart on our way home.

On the road again.... Allatoona Lake, Army Corps of Engineers camp ground north of Atlanta right off I-75. Beautiful location on the lake, $15 a night for 30/50 amp service And water (for old folks with National Park Senior Access Pass). ACE campgrounds are awesome!

I agree with many of you. Our favorite is Disney's Fort Wilderness camp ground. Soo much fun.

Small well maintained park district CG on the Illinois River in East Peoria IL., pros and cons, but we return every year to visit family in the area and it is now our favorite CG.

Due to heavy rains our current site had standing water and some muddy areas. I asked the office manager if something could be done. The park district manager took over my complaint. Yesterday I got a call asking me to move my coach for an hour. They sent in two loads of rock and completely re-did my site. This morning I am high-n-dry and my site is almost twice as big as it was originally! Pretty good service for a month rental at $330.

Tampa RV suggestions

Two suggestions in the Tampa/ St Pete area are the KOA at Maderia Beach- some great sites on the water and great kids activities.

Fort Desoto County Park- great beach area, great sites, not expensive, but fills up quickly....

I don't know if I wrote this before or not....old thread and bad memory I guess....
the first few times we camped at the Fort I had mixed feelings
liked it, was satisfied...but I had something much more over the top pictured in my mind based on Disney.
I guess I was picturing camping in a manicured golf course like setting, with mickey and the other characters regularly strolling through the sites greeting the kids.
Back then, we were staying in the more primitive loops with the popup camper, and honestly the sites while clean, weren't all that different from a state park or similar...

The last time we were there though, we stayed in one of the I guess premium level loops in the MH, with concrete pad sites. Ours backed up to the Chip and Dale movie amphitheater and that grass field joining the fishing pond.
It still wasn't that golf course, and we still weren't being greeting regularly by princesses and the like.... but it struck me how great the place was.
we were in a really choice spot, located in a very choice campground
clean and well maintained..both the sites and the whole park
no shortage of things to do, activities, entertainment
nice music piped in along the public walkways
nice landscaping
and the clean was more than just physically clean. Hard to describe....It just had a clean moral feeling as well....not prudish at all, you could get a beer in the store if you wanted, but just clean and fun for everyone!
