Thank YOU Jamie ! I appreciate the info. We had noted a previous post regarding RV Park Reviews and will definately use that...
Thor affiliation or not !! ha !
In regards to choosing an RV Park...we do plan ahead for our ultimate destination....but, for some reason, we 'wing it' during the trip there !!
When on the road, I google RV Camping in the general area of where Ron wants to quit for the day...But, this year...I think we are going to be more organized...especially on this trip west...as we are doing side trips.
We are soooo looking forward to getting out on the road in the Axis !

In Lake Havasu we've stayed at Havasu Calls which is a very nice park & this time of year it should be fairly empty, in the winter it's a bit close. Also Prospector park is nice, but it offers not much view of the lake. There are several along the river south of LH towards Parker.

Kay,
I think visiting the Havasu area would be a wonderful experience for you in your travels. My only caution is - if you don't like heat, avoid the summer months at all costs. First, the temps can get into the 110-115 range daily. Second, there are TONS of people there at that time, boating and skiing on the water - many of them in VERY celebratory moods (noisy and raucous).
As for London Bridge - it's definitely worth a visit. The area where it's located is scenic and you can see it from many vantage points, including driving over it!
The landscape around the Lake Havasu area is stunning, with lots of spiky mountains, very stark desertscapes, and the beautiful Colorado River running through a lovely canyon. There are bunches of campgrounds/resorts along the river between the town of Lake Havasu and Parker AZ to the south.
If you travel north of Lake Havasu City, there are little towns/areas called Golden Shores & Topock, filled with mobile home parks and lots of retired folks. You could continue north to Laughlin NV along some scenic drives, and on to Lake Mead, Boulder Dam and Vegas if you so desire.
In my opinion there is much to see in this area - Oatman (donkeys wander the streets freely), quaint little towns on sections of old Route 66, the desert, the mountains, the Colorado River...lots of stuff!
We enjoy being out away from cities and highly populated areas, so do tend to seek places that are away from the crowds. We also enjoy traveling during cooler months and try to avoid holiday/summer vacation seasons when possible.
Happy travels!

Jamie - that's a great website! I didn't know it had any connection to the Thor Forums...interesting! But I've found myself checking out reviews, both searching for possible places to stay, and for reading others' reviews. I've contributed a couple myself recently.
Thanks for the reminder - I need to bookmark it so I can get to it easily!

Here is a little bit of history on the bridge...
How the London Bridge Ended Up in Arizona - CityLab
I hauled several loads from the port to the building site....
The bridge was built in the middle of the desert and then the river was channeled to go under the bridge...

Just back from the Mountains of NC. Found a great little KOA in Marble NC (just outside of Murphy NC and a mile from Cherokee River Valley Casino.
The trout were plentiful but they were spawning and not interested in any thing I could throw at them (worms, Trout bait, SUPER Trout bait, even yellow corn and cheese would not take their minds off of business).

A couple of pictures of our site. Plan to go back, great white water right behind our site, pool, showers, game room, play area for kids and a play area for the dogs! Primitive camping and some nice looking Cabins too. PLUS they shuttle you to the Casino...by the staff up to 6PM. The security at the Casino brings you back.

Hello :
Does anyone have a favorite, beach front RV Campground along the East Coast ? I have seen a number of great photos, but as everyone knows, photos alone do not tell the whole story ? I am a huge fan of watching the sun come up along the beach between 5 & 6 AM. Would love to find an RV Campground where I could experience that in my RV ! We are new to the RV life and have three Cocker Spaniels (smaller dogs 18-20 pounds) that travel with us, so it would need to be pet friendly. Thanking everyone in advance for their thoughts & opinions. We have a Thor ACE 30.2 ( Approx 31 feet with a passenger side slide out )

Camp Hatteras on the Outer Banks comes pretty close to that. You're not camping directly on the beach, but you can get some campsites that are a few yards from the beach.
There is a KOA next to it with similar sites close to the beach (oh yeah and the Outer Banks are pretty cool by themselves).
We've been to Camp Hatteras. Really liked it but our site wasn't right at the beach--we had to walk about 50 yards or so to get there. (If you look at their map (pdf) we were along Marlin Row.)
Looks like the KOA there has some sites closer to the beach ( Here is their map (pdf)).

Check out Bryn Mawr Ocean Resort south of St Augustine, but I think exactly what you want is Beverly Beach Camptown RV Resort or Flagler by the Sea CG. Both are between St Augustine and Flagler Beach.
The campgrounds with the view you want are generally quite tight and pricey, but the sunrises can be memorable. Good luck with your search!

Guess we need to get out more after seeing all the great places that people visit. Normal trips for us are 2 to 3 days We use our RVs as a lodge for differant activities we do like, scuba diving, the lake with the PWC, NASCAR races and simple 24 hours away from the house. Hope someday we can travel and visit some of these favorite campgrounds everyone are posting.

Came over to Ft Wilderness on Sunday. This is definitely the best time to be here for the crowds. Ft Wilderness has two loops closed for repaving (loop 100 & 800). There are lots of empty sites available -- we are in loop 400 and there are 6 empty sites, loop 700 has 12 empty.
Went to MK on Sunday evening and it was virtually deserted. Went to AK today and the crowds were pretty thin.
Now if something could be done about that 93 degree temp. Blizzard Beach tomorrow.

Temps
I'll take some of the heat. We are having upper 30's and lower 40's in southern Indiana.
Hope you have a great trip.

K -- that's usually pretty busy. Go on the Disney World website and go to Fort Wilderness. You can go to the reservations section and put in a date and duration and check availability. Premium sites are full hookup plus cable. The is also a picnic table & charcoal grill. The sites are back in concrete, side and flat. All sites separated by trees.

Thank you Ed. I had been to the site ... was interested in your valued opinion.
We may put that one on the back burner for a Spring or Fall date (during school)
... This trip we are getting off the Interstate at Pensacola area..and hoping to stay the night at one of the campgrounds on the Gulf Panhandle. Have visited some sites...look interesting.
I appreciate your help !

Chantilly Festival Farm
Well they went and did it again. Hosting another event the wife and myself feel like we must attend. Located in Floyd, VA this farm hosts various events throughout the year. In 2014 we camped here (prior class c) for three nights during their Octoberfest event. We were the only campers at the campground that time of year. Since then they have added about 20 additional full hookup sites and built a bath house in a new section.
We have made our reservations to return again this year. In September they are hosting a VW Bus camp out and Abbey Road Live concert. Full hookup RV sites are approx 25.00 - 30.00 per night and they offer a 10 percent discount to active and retired military.
This year we'll stay a week and check out some of the other venues along The Crooked Trail and around the arts district of Floyd as well as the Abbey Road Live Concert.
Here are a few pics from our last trip there. There is something to be said about waking up to the sounds of the mules in the field across the road.

Nah, I'm a grinner. When I was about 8 years old, many, many moons ago, I had an elementary school teacher tell me I had no musical talent or ability. Never tried again. Now, with that said we do love the enjoyment of live music events. I'll have to check out the weekend jams in Floyd.
