Check out the van dwellers on youTube if you want to boon dock. They know all the good places. Skip the steak house in Amarillo unless you like your steak to taste like burned dirt.

A fair amount of stuff to see but after a couple days you kind of want to move on. Flagstaff is nice as is the Bearizona Animal Park in Williams and from Williams you are only an easy 60 mile drive to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Have fun.
Camping in Cottonwood is a better choice. Deadhorse Ranch State Park or one of the private campgrounds.
In August, Schnebly Hill was a booger of a trail downhill from I-17 in our Jeep. Seems that there has been recent backhoe work leaving good sized boulders to climb over. Looks like even Pink Jeep tours don't go to the overlook anymore .

We attended a Thor Diesel Club rally at the Distant Drums RV park in Camp Verde. It is across the highway from the Cliff Castle Casino and is owned and operated by the sane folks that run the casino (Yavapai Nation). It is a very nice park and well maintained. They also run a shuttle to the casino for your spare time . It is about 15 minutes from Sedona.

We came across I-40 from California beginning of December 2019
headed back home to Colorado.

I had to winterize the 5th wheel before we left and stayed in hotels
going across Arizona/New Mexico because it was dropping down to
about 17 degrees at night. Farther south down I-17 you will find
warmer places to camp.
