FL to Adirondacks

I have asked the question before, but we are leaving next week and wanted to ask if 95 to Fredericksburg, 17, 66 to 81 is currently a good option. 37ft, flat towing. Not sure if anyone has recent experience with that route or an alternate at point.

That route is probably as good as any. Several things you want to do: stay off of I95 N of Fredricksburg and the Washington Beltway. And don't do the Baltimore tunnel since LP tanks are banned through it.

A few weeks ago I came up I95 from the south to the Beltway and then got off at I270 and through Gettysburg to connect up to I81. It was stop and go from Fredricksburg north to well past Fredrick, Md. Your route is longer but avoids DC which is now my paramount objective..

A coupl extra mile but less stop and go is I95 to I64 to I81.

Too much construction happing around F-burg and US17.

I wouldn’t go north of Ladysmith on I95 unless it was an emergency.

As a note we were just through the area a few weeks ago.

That’s basically my route to NH every year - I95 to 288 around Richmond, I64 to I81 and beyond. Going thru the Capitol Region is a crap shoot - commuted there for 8 years and hated every moment. Just be aware that 81 is a major truck route so expect heavy semi traffic.

The other option instead of 288 is 295 North until it terminates at I64 one exit from 288. Either way is good.

We lived in that area (Chester/Enon) for over 25 years.
