Florida campground on the beach

The wife and I plan to head down to Florida in January for a couple weeks. Does anyone have a recommendation on a beach front campground?

Least coast, best coast, or panhandle. Check out campgroundreviews.com

Not sure if you can get beach sites in panhandle area this late in game or not. I know in SW Florida you need to make reservations early especially if you want prime beach camping. Are you sure you want to have your coach getting that heavy of a dose of salt water by camping on the beach?

There is Ft Pickens on Pensacola Beach. It is on the beach and you have access to the Gulf and Pensacola Sound from the camp.

Thanks all. I will check these out. I know that beach camping can be rough on your coach with blowing sand but if there is somewhat of a barrier between the camp sites and the beach, might help some. As far as what part of Florida, I am fine with the panhandle but I do know that it can get cold there if the northeast is experiencing a deep freeze. Nice thing about the panhandle is you don't have to drive as far from PA to get there compared to southern Florida.

Fort Clinch SP and Gamble Rogers SP both have beach sites.... some/most are blocked by dunes and brush though.
and it can be cold in North Florida in January

Anastasia SP and Hanna Park are both "near" the beach

oh, also this place.... but I've nver stayed there

All the campgrounds recommended look great. The choice will be difficult.
Thanks everyone for your input.

X2 on what blw2 said.

We just got back from Gamble Rogers SRA near Flagler Beach, on reservations made last winter. We had a great site, beach front. Most of the beachfront sites there have no view of the ocean, obstructed by vegetation. Had to wash salt and sand off EVERYTHING when we left there!

You likely won't get January 2017 Gamble Rogers reservations, even on the "riverside" sites. reserveamerica.com will give you next available dates and other state parks nearby. Beverly Beach, and the other private campgrounds in the area are more available, some with unobstructed views, but carry a premium price.

In January, you'll be more likely to enjoy the weather further south. January is the peak of the peak season so SP sites are hard to find and the privates are pricey. We wintered in a mobile home park in West Palm Beach, but they rented spots monthly and were about an mile from the beach.

If you want a no-grass RV park on the Gulf, check out Ho-Hum (what a name!)

Good luck!
