Gas on I75?

Hi All,
I'm a Class A pulling an Escape on a KarKaddy dolly. Where's a good place to gas up on I75 between Knoxville & Chattanooga?
Thanx,
Dan

Mornin', Dan -

Don't have mine here at the house - it's kept in the ACE - but get a copy of The Next Exit. It's a fantastic resource for RV-friendly venues off interstates.

Meanwhile, if you see a Pilot or Flying J fuel stop, you're pretty safe pulling in there.

That's not true. Although truck stops are great for diesels that can accept the nozzle size on a truck pump some of them have very small and narrow islands for gas pumps. I can name a few Pilot Flying J locations that I have been to that are like that.

Although the original post is old there is a PFJ at I-40 & I-75 Exit 369 in Knoxville that has RV lanes.

I’ve got a Sheetz card (.03 off) and Good Sam for .05 off at Pilot and Flying J. So far it appears that they have not jacked up the price to account for the discount. I’ve saved a few dollars on this trip.

As you plan your day of travel each morning, include fuel stops. Google Map the zones you plan to stop in and do Aerial Views of the stations. You can also do Street Views and make sure ingress and egress are smooth and verify canopies have the ample clearance you need. Gasoline is rarely available in the back of truck strops but lots of the mega-stores have RV lanes including dump stations. I do this every day we travel and have found/eliminated many locations that were perfect or too restrictive for my needs. Although mine is diesel, I stay away from the truck stop pumps as they pump very fast, are nasty and you have to give blood just to get the pumps turned on. I look for large stations with diesel "up front". Google is my "scout".

May want to consider downloading the GasBuddy app. It has a fairly comprehensive list of gas stations and prices. Drivers report gas prices to the website and then receive points that can be redeemed for gas. I use GasBuddy when planning trips to determined where to stop to get the best price. There have been times that I have saved several dollars by just going down the road a few miles.

We downloaded gasbuddy. Seems very helpful. But - is there a way to get satellite view? Looking at the maps themselves does not help when checking to see whether it’s and easy in and out. It’s “less than optimal” to have to flip between gasbuddy and a mapping app with sat.

Add Google Earth to your list of computer programs. Bring up the desired location.

Or just use google maps and switch to satellite view. Even better: With either you can switch to street view and see what it would look like as you drive up (not just the overhead view).

If you are going through the truck lanes for diesel most any truck stop is fine. We have a 30' ACE which is gas so that is out for us. I try to pre-plan gas stops ahead of time using the PFJ web site. I look for RV lanes but have found them to vary as far as usefulness. We usually make one trip north every year and one PFJ listed as having RV lanes is just the end pump with a sign. Works out now that we learned to circle the building and come in from the back.
Another local PFJ is not listed as RV friendly or RV lanes, it is so tight I hate to pull in with my pickup towing a small utility trailer. Jim.

Every truck stop I have been to has diesel in the Gas lines out front. The outsie lanes on either end are easy to access.

Google ahead of you or stop and charter a small plane. Scouting ahead is a must if you wish for drama-free stops everywhere you go. It's the new roadmap.
