We all have to make choices about where we stay...
If this bothers you so much: vote with your right foot, and drive to another place.

Try the Laser Light Show for starters!! Tons of events and festivals all year long. Ever been there???

And, read a little bit about where you're going before you get there. Most everything, everywhere is published.

Yes. Several years ago around the 4th of July for a great fireworks show but wasn’t camping at the time. Have also taken in the laser light show. I understand it has a great campground too and would like to visit it sometime. Sorry. I misunderstood your post. Thought you were referring to various actual state parks and not Stone Mountain in that post.

If one knows in advance of these Park fees and decide on staying there regardless; it’s one thing, but not knowing of the fees beforehand is another.

Now that we know of certain states that charge these added fees, we have no reason to complain much if we decide to stay there anyway.

Let's face it: this isn't a cheap pastime, and nobody gets into it for all of the savings...

Clearly not the issue. No one mentioned anything about it being a cheap pastime. Don’t mind in the least bit about paying what’s expected or DUE.

Like my dad said long ago..."there's nothing wrong with getting slapped...it's part of being married...you just need to know it's coming so you can lean in to it".

Haha! That’s a good one. Will try to remember that.

Buy yearly GA park pass to avoid fee

In some states, the parking fee is built into the reservation but not GA.

We live in GA and buy the yearly park pass with 2 parking passes. If you are camping and have a park pass, the $5 is waived but you must remember to tell them (or show them) that you have it. This is not a new policy. I’ve had to go back and get a refund before when they charged me without asking.

Georgia Park Pass

It's $50 a year but.... Annual ParkPass discounts of 50% are available for seniors 62 and older, and 25% for active military and veterans.

The last 2 years state park campsites are 50% off during August if you camp 2 nights in June or July.

I have no clue if they are going to do it again this year. I am keeping and eye out for that deal. We used it twice last August.

There is great deal if you join Friends of Georgia State Parks. For $105 you get 3 free nights, 2 park passes and 20% off on camping stays. It's only $84 for seniors. Here is link to the info : https://friendsofgastateparks.org/ci...3D1%26id%3D108
