We have it set to tell us when we pass within 2 miles of an antique store.
It is exactly responsible for landing me some great things in some of the silliest little towns we'd have never thought to stop in.
It tells me of railroad crossings and low bridges and museums and has about 1,000 things you can set alarms for.
I gave up on TomTom and Magellan about 2006. I only had them at all so I didn't have to fire up the laptop for street atlas. They sucked immediately and were given away.
I've had computer maps since streetATLASUSA for dos.
It used to take me 60 minutes to connect to three sats.
Before that I had some expensive system that tied into ham repeaters and I had to size maps myself, install them and have my location write over the hand done maps. Worthless in town, priceless in the desert.
We always carry Delorme atlas with us for each state... Still.
Haven't opened or bought one in years, but it's in the truck.
Sygic is my choice based on experience. It'll be between 16 and 64 bucks for cyber Monday tomorrow. It'll run on any android device including radio heads.
Truckmaps is just as good in a slightly different way.
