Ny to colo springs best rt 70 or 80

Kind of said it all in title . Sometimes it’s better traveling with more scenic routes better roads even if it takes a little longer. Leaving October 16 to Colorado then going to San Diego slowlllly. Wondering wether 70 or 80 is nicer. Thanks in advance .....

I've been across both and to me it's a toss up. I-80 is tolled in Ohio, Indiana and part of Illinois. I-70 has St Louis and the arch, I-80 has the world's largest truck stop in Iowa.

I70 has tolls in Kansas so you don't gain much there. Kansas also tends to be windier than the Northern route across Nebraska. There are a number of attractions across 80 including the Kearney Archway, Antique Archaeology, museums, and others.

Won't be long and there will be periodic snow closures of the highway. If you are taking 70 west out of Denver you already have possible daily short term highway closures due to snow.

I-80 service plaza's in Ohio have overnight RV spots with power Check out the brochure (pdf).

Makes for some of the better overnight stops (although on our last attempt the entire RV area was filled--it looked like they all knew each other. They had a big party going on, all the lawn chairs out...darn gypsy's! LOL).
