Recommendations on GPS

Hi there, I have searched several times on GPS for my Ace motor coach made by Thor. After of months back and just looking again, I've forgotten what the reviews were on the best GPS for a motor coach. Can anyone give me some input based on what you have or either have read? I thought Rand Mcnally looked good, but can't remember the model. I just read a poor review on one of Garmin' s GPS.

Thanks, trying to get one for my husband for Christmas...

MAX

Garmin, does the job for us. Any compaints I have heard from folks is basically they bought the wrong model. So I would recommend going to Garmins web site and look at features and prices and pick accordingly. Buy on line or at a outlet that has all models in stock.

My phone works pretty good I bought a cheap GPS off ebay, I do not suggest that. It works ok, but screen hard to see when bright, no POS, etc. China for $36... but between that and my phone I get where I want to go..

In the Garmin world you have the 770 LMT (Lifetime Map & Traffic) for about $400 or the 660 LMT which is an inch smaller (6" vs 7") but uses the same operating system and is $150 cheaper.

In the Magellan world you have the cheapest entry with the RoadMate RV9145-LM at only $120 on Amazon, but may not arrive before Christmas.
You also have the RoadMate RV 9365T-LMB at $326 and the RoadMate Pro 9165T for $420, neither of which have good reviews on Amazon.

I have the Garmin 660 cuz I'm cheap and although it works as well as any of my other 3 Garmins in my cars, I have been underwhelmed with the RV specific features.

Regardless of which one you chose you must remember it is just one input to your navigation so don't rely on it blindly. Get other inputs from Google Maps, Waze, Road Atlas, etc.

I second the Garmin 760LTM. You can imput your RV's specifications into it so it will avoid areas that are not RV friendly like roads with low overpasses, low railroad bridges, etc. It also has a lot of other RV specific apps like campgrounds and RV repair centers.

I bought the Garmin RV 770LMT for my coach and love it. Warns of narrow bridges and especially crooked roads. You program in your RV's height, length and weight. Works great! This was a new model this spring.

We purchased the Rand McNally 770 LMT as well. Love the warnings of sharp curves ahead and it provides decent directions. We feel more secure that the device knows are RV measurements!

Same here - although pricey, it's got a very bright and easy-to-read screen. I also separately bought the power cable that has the traffic receiver built in so that I don't have to use my cell phone to get real-time traffic updates. No regrets, whatsoever.

The 660 was never meant for use in an RV (I know: I had one on my Spyder...)
The 770 will allow you to tailor your route so that you avoid places where your rig will get squished...

However: the 660 is waterproof, so you can take it in the shower with you!

You must be talking about a different 660. I would definitely NOT take it into the shower:

The 660s were designed for usage on motorcycles: they ARE waterproof!
And I've given mine the test!

There are MULTIPLE 660's from Garmin - the Zumo (motorcycle friendly), Aera (pilot/aviation friendly) and the RV versions at least...

Then why do they have "RV" in the name for the one I was referring to? Did you not read what I pointed to in the Garmin page view I posted?

Here's what you said:

I know that my eyes are lousy, but I don't see "RV" anywhere...

While I'm not in the mood to play this stupid game with you today:

You never mentioned the RV prefix that would point to the pertinent model.
Garmin offered their Zumo 660 for motorcycle use.
If that's not the one that "660" refers to; perhaps there may have been a lack of clarity in your original post about them.
