Idiot/Inconsiderate Campers

We spent Thanksgiving at a nice campground in Temecula, CA. It was a lovely long weekend.

However, one evening at 2:00am, the jerk-weed in the neighboring campsite fires up his Craftsman (construction site type) generator, louder than hell, and at 2:00am. (Quiet hours at 10:00pm-7:00am).

I went over to his rig and pounded on his door and told him to turn it off. I reminded him of the campsite quiet hour rules, and he looked at me dumfounded. I then told him that his generator wasn't even a campground approved.

How inconsiderate and clueless do you have to be to fire up a very loud generator in a crowded campground at 2:00AM?

It happens, sucks!

Did he turn it off after you knocked on door?

Had guy like that in Ocracoke in Oct, his home depot generator was crazy loud. Makes you appreciate the Onan installed in our rig!

We were out for our maiden voyage of our 28A at Glamis last President's day weekend.

A rather inconsiderate soul next to us was blaring his Costco ION bluetooth speaker with his (insert expletive here) playlist on until midnight, and he wasn't even outside to listen to it!

Did the guy explain the use of his genset? Maybe he needed it for his wife's c-pap or oxygen generator. There are two sides to every story and they aren't always because the other guy is a douche.

If there were "issues" like that the camper should have anticipated the need for power and made arrangements to have that power within the rules of the campground. Otherwise, move to a campsite/campground with electricity available

Yes, he turned it off and kept it off for the rest of the night. We departed the next morning.

Agree with the fellow who said that we need to think these contingencies out ahead of time. Besides, a generator like his has no place in a populated campground, in my opinion.

Btw, I use a Cpap that runs off of a small 200W inverter powered via a 12vdc port near the bed.

I don’t see a valid other side to this story other than clueless.

It's more palatable: if you chalk it up to inexperience and ignorance...
He shut if off; and the issue was resolved.

The U.S. has slowly evolved into a "look at me" or "it's ALL about ME" culture. Making excuses for the intentionally obnoxiously loud Harley motorcycle - or just ear-splitting loud engine exhausts, that somehow prove one's manhood?

I call it the "fart in the elevator" syndrome. "I feel better, and if YOU have a problem with it - that's YOUR problem." Some people are stuck in a perpetual adolescence state. Probably from chemicals in fast food??

The saddest part is society is starting to accept these abhorrent behavior aberrations as the new normal. To me, these are just symptoms of a degenerating social construct. But that's another vast subject for discussion...

Between all the folks who just know that the Sun shines from their butts; to the folks who find themselves outraged over ANY perceived insult or minor inconvenience: it's getting hard to not have everybody mad at you!

I agree with the OP starting any genny after quiet hours let alone a construction site screamer is BS. Sad to say but in today's society banging on an RV door at 2:00 a.m. may result in lead poisoning.

You better not go to Charlotte Motor Speedway. And i suggest you don't pound on anyones RV at 2 AM... Might get a airconditioned head.

Not the context of the problem.

Can you say that on the internet?

Your post reminds me of the holier than thous on our Neighborhood Apps.

I guarantee if you drive down our street at about 8 mph; someone will post a picture of your car, license plates, and call the police

How do I know, about 2 years ago I hooked up a brand new Alfa WifI Camp Pro v2 to my laptop in my SUV, I was wanting to see how far from the house I could get before the signal would drop. I had no idea that my wife (the driver) and I would be the talk of that damn Neighborhood App being accused as thieves looking to scope houses. Some even accused us of stealing the SUV, and we have lived on that street longer than anyone else. I had a 2 ft long white antenna in hand hanging out the window, but that didn't matter. I wanted to say they had Sunshine coming from their $#%; but didn't know I could on the internet
