Casino Camping

The wife and I drove the rv to Rising Sun,Indiana and stayed at their new rv park Fri And Sat. We thought this was a good way to go to the casino, have a few drinks, and not have to spend maybe $100.00 per night in a hotel. It cost $59.00 total for two nights. Campsites are all level with concrete pads. All the trees are small, since it's a new campground, so they don't give off much shade, but that's what the awning provides. Very clean campground. It only has 56 sites. There are 7 individual bathrooms, each with a shower and very clean. You can walk across the parking lot to the casino. We'll probably go there again. Just thought I'd share this info for anyone that lives around that area. Website is risingstarcasino.com.

Casino RV parks are a great overnite when traveling from A to B in the hot, hot summer.
That is...when we recently traveled from California to Colorado, a 3 nite ride (DW doesn’t like to rush-it), the weather was unbearably hot so we could not boondock like we normally do in the winter.
We stopped at a roadside casino, paid the $15/nite rate for power, water & dump.
It allowed us comfort from the heat, and a quiet spot just off the highway.
And the cheap buffet works too!

Taylorbob,

Just out of curiosity why were you not able to boondock in the heat? Were you in an area the AC just won't keep up on the genny, or do you prefer to not use it while boondocking? Last summer out here got so hot the AC never turned off on trip to PA and back. Our friends are all summer season campers, so we go with them. But we prefer fall and winter for cooler weather and boondocking with out the generator noise.

We start moving at 9am, drive for 6hrs
We run the genny while in-route.
It's still 98 degrees at 3pm, genny still running

DW doesn't like sitting in a parking lot with the Genny running for another 6hrs (bed-time) when it cools to a balmy 80 outside. Not alot of shade trees in the desert, so it's generally full-sun.

So stopping at a cheap casino RV park is purely about comfort.

You sound about like us. I typically wake up during the night, shut off the genny, and put a fan on her. By the time she realizes it I tell her it's time to get up anyway. Lol. BTW...she doesn't read this forum.
