Loves Truckstop RV camping facilities

Spending a few days @ the Loves T/S and full service RV park in Box Elder, SD,
[and yes, it is snowing].
Waiting for our appointments to get the eyesight testing done for our drivers license's renewals.. {required for those of us that are 65 and older}

This facility is a "Full Hook Up" that was laid out by an RV'n trucker.. Logical road design with very easy back in's and pull thru's , with a good amount of "elbow room".
Also has a separate small building with restrooms with showers on site.
About $45 per night.
{Side note... This Loves honors the TSD/Open Roads/EFS fueling agreement}

So I get you need a few days to hang around someplace, but what is Loves hook for $45/night?

Maybe pictures would help, but I don't think I would want to stay a Truck stop for a few hours unless I was actually getting paid. What is the noise like (if any). There is another thread about noise and such while being stopped. Are there no other options around i.e. a State Park, a Lake maybe even something National being in SD.

Truth is Loves is one of very places to stop, normally the gas is cheaper, and it is easy in and out. But we never go inside. There are times when the credit card reader says to come inside. I just hop back in the RV and cross the street

My experience with Loves is quite the opposite:
Gas is normally more expensive
No RV lanes/Pumps and the car lanes can be hard to maneuver in/out.
Absolutely no where to park the RV if you're pulling a toad. All the truck spaces are back-in.

Give me a Pilot/FlyingJ anyday.

You have to search a little but here’s a picture of the rv park. North of truck stop just across the street. Maps and satellite views are not up to date. Apparently park is pretty new.

That's our
Never under half a tank
Gas purchase plan.

If the place is busy or miserable we just move on for the next 100 yards to 50 miles.

Pilot is putting in rv places.
One we came across was across from the station and had a gated entrance.

I'm not sure we've ever stayed at a random truck stop.
Maybe, but if we did it wasn't memorable.

I concede that all locations are not created equal. I usually let the Gas Price signs decide where to stop and then pass on a few that are tiny as you state. This particular Loves that I assume is nothing special is one that I crow about.

https://www.loves.com/locations/779

Look at the satellite view.

We stop there all the time, it is about halfway between Memphis TN & Dallas TX. I have never figured out why, but about 90% of the time we stop there the lane next to car parking is always open. When not; we just get behind the car that is there, we have toad and have no issues getting in or out. I can see the open spot when I turn in so it is perfect pullup every time. The gas today is $3.09 which is about as good as it get in these parts.

Before RV days we always stopped at the cleanest restrooms we could fine. Gas prices be dammed

I guess if you wanted room, Bucees would win out, but they are rare to find and usually very busy and over priced.

I think Race Trac is my 2nd place that I seem to stop at alot. Pilot is there too, but I don't see price luring me into many unless the are way the highway and hard to get to and in those cases I pass and don't repeat

When we were newbies ( I am a senior newbie now ) we were at the border of Texas and New Mexico. We had just filled up at a Loves Truck Stop. I pulled into a spot reserved for Truck / RVs and adjusted my generator's altitiude setting, then we said with all of the room; why not spend the night. Within about 30 minutes it seemed like every truck came off the highway, we found ourselves wedged between two big trucks My wife started to freakout. So to calm her; I found my friends Smith and Wesson and was making sure they were ready just in case and she almost fainted

Needless to say; I had to pull out and we found a very peaceful and quite Rest Area in New Mexico about 50 miles way

Check it out. If you’re there in person for the eye test at DMV you shouldn’t need an eye exam. We didn’t and we were both over 65. Eye exam is required for renewal by mail.

TX is the same with the examiner giving the eye test, and you are good to go for 8 more years. Inter-ocular implants are really great for older persons with RVs.

This is gonna be our 1st renewal of the SD drivers license..so thought that the optometrist eye exam requirement was for everyone over 65.

Thanks for posting and Yes, it IS a New Truckstop, and Yes, it IS a "Gated" RV Park with Security.... Noise level isn't too bad as it is across the street from the truckstop proper.
For Those bitching about their price of diesel...Listed pump price tonight is $4.289, TSD/Open Roads discount price is $3.514 plus TSD's 10% "claw back" of $0.077 per gallon.. giving a net cost of approximately $3.587..I'll take that $0.702 per gallon savings all day long.
(5 miles west at the Common Cents [a cut rate] fuel stop [across from the Fly-J Rapid City] their "net price" $3.66 is a savings of $0.09, using the "Mudflap" app..

We have a Loves RV Park about 10 miles down the road from here. It is a well laid out RV park, but $47 a night for a full hook site within ear shot of the Interstate and the truck stop proper seems a bit salty IMHO. Plus side no driving 10 miles off the highway looking for a KOA.

So we will now add the Loves RV parks to our list of possible overnight stops.

Only if renewing by mail or online. First sentence of the attached. If you’re renewing at DMV they will perform the standard vision test.

We had appointments for the eye exams and then found out they weren’t needed when we went into the DMV office.

FWIW, am going to dogpile on the thumbs up for a Love's RV stop. We recently stayed overnight at a Love's RV stop in Cordele, GA while on our way to TN from Orlando. It was about $45.00 per night, FHU, gated, and well kept. Even better, all online reservations, which provides you with a gate code to get in as you near the destination by checking in. Respectable distance from truck stop, so not awful noise, but you could definitely hear "some" noise. Usually doesn't bother wife and I, so all good for us. Am definitely on the lookout for more of these as it's efficient for the way we prefer to travel. This particular one had fire pits and even a pickleball court. For anyone interested, here is the website that you can find where they are all currently located https://www.loves.com/RVFAQs Looks as if they are going to be building more.

I'll use them as I come across them for overnighting if Harvest Host fails me.
We try to stay away from the sardine stacker rv parks but if required, this layout seems the best.

We really don't see someones black hose being 15ft from our entrance and the view being the drivers side of someones fifth wheel as a 'vacation spot'.
