Take the Tappen Zee Bridge if you can, I-287 but try to avoid it during rush hour (7 - 10 and 3-6). It's a toll bridge, something like $13 or $14 the last time I paid attention to it. Like everything in New England it accepts EZ=Pass.

If you have to go thru NYC on 95 try to do it on a Sunday morning. If you can time to cross the George Washington Bridge before Noon you can normally count on just flying thru the city.

Cobia 13, I hope when you head to Maine that you are getting away from IRMA and not going to meet up with her in Maine. Remember, I'm out of NC and headed to Main also in a couple days.

we finally made . 1234.9 miles . Took 95 all the way , by passing some cities using I295 , I494 etc . I missed a turn in NY and had to take the GWB , $41. i wanted to take the Tapon Zee , will take in on home trip . Traffic no problem except at GWB . The biggest problem was the roads ! They beat the sh... out of us . If you have false teeth use some super glue !

We do that trip every year. To avoid the really big cities and least tolls we go north on I-95 to I-26 to I-77 to I-81 to I-84 to Mass Pike to I-495 and points to NE. Crossing the Hudson at Newburg is much cheaper than Tappan zee or at least it was last time we used the Tappan zee.

Cobia 13,
It's your old work friend.
You should be good for your return trip when you start.
We have a light rain and slight wind at this time. Irma is around Tampa. Daytona is getting strong wind and rain.
Hurricane will be a tropical storm later tomorrow and you should not have road issues. However, I'm sure you will get good road reports tomorrow as you travel. Irma is slated to head over Birmingham, between Memphis and Nashville then turn North.
Travel safe my friend.

Roy

PS: Sorry for the weather report. Just trying to help my friend get home.
