Minor League Baseball and RV

Was suppose to take GF with me to Fayetteville for a Friday commissary run. Then the ol light bulb went off and I said let's stop in Kinston to watch the Wood Ducks play Friday night and we could get a camp site afterwards.

Then I thought about contacting the Wood Ducks Marketing Director about an overnight stay in their parking lot after the game. She got back to me post haste and said it was okay with the City of Kinston Parks/Rec folks (city owns the stadium).

So, we drove up, cooked steaks in convection pre-game, paid $18.00 for two tickets (got $6.00 Vet knock off) and enjoyed a good game. Unfortunately, the Wood Ducks lost.

After the game we extended the slide out, put up the TV antenna and watched some old movies while eating an ice cream cone. Somewhere along the line I paid $39.00 for a couple of WD t-shirts but I consider that a "wash" since I would have paid that and more for a camp site.

Got up this AM, cooked breakfast and headed on down the road towards Fayetteville.

Support your local baseball clubs! Make it a great experience. Call and ask about a stay over in their parking lot after the game.

That is awesome. Haven't thought about that with the minor league clubs.

Usually for the MLB clubs when we camp we stay at a nearby campground and drive in (unless we fly and hotel it). So far we're at 29 of 30--one to go.

We think that's a good idea too.
It is a bit of a drive for us to see a TN Smokys baseball game over near Kodak, TN.
Gonna check into that!

This is a good idea...
I wonder if it would be worth it to invite the home team over for burgers and hot dogs after the game?

It sure would help to build lots of good-will!

Pretty amazing the venues that will let you stay on their property or park the MH closeby. I do this all the time...even for day events. The Friday Night Drags at Atlanta Motor Speedway allows us to go through the tunnel into the infield. We park 100 feet from the strip in garage area. Slides out, generator running, burgers on the grill...and your own private bathroom and you meet tons of great people. During events at the World Congress Center, like RV & boat shows, we park in the "staging lot/bus parking"...right next to the Center...same scenario, and we can stay the night with no issues. We also park here for concerts downtown and Uber to the door. They have 24 hour security at the lot. Google Map the venue, find your sweet spot, call and ask. We have a huge MH to be doing this but...that's why we bought it. It fills the gaps between camping trips and keeps everything alive in the coach...including the generator. Nice post!!!

LOL! Of course I forgot: Took the Axis to a concert once. They also had me park with the limo's and the busses (on a whim I happened to look at the venue's website and it had listed RV parking so I thought what the heck!).

There's a local limo business a few blocks from my house. The owner stopped by a few months ago and asked me if I was interested in renting out the coach (drive it myself) for business groups to go to Braves games and other events locally. He offered $200 per hour with a 5 hour minimum. There's obviously a market for this use and it might be a good investment for some. I passed. People that rent things don't care how they treat them and I would have ended up shooting someone. Plus...having to dump the tanks afterwards was an absolute NO!

What's the matter? You don't like the smell of spilled beer and vomit?
Never mind what they did to your Blackwater tank!

Another option is to check to see if you have a collegiate summer baseball league near you. That's for undergraduates to hone their skills after the regular college baseball season while keeping their amatuer. Probably like the local Carolina Coast Plains League they'd run from end of May to July. Last year's Morehead City Marlins tix were $6 or $7.

Update:
The Tennessee Smokies baseball team has informed me that, although the RV can park in the parking lot during the game, however, it cannot stay there overnight.

3/4 of the battle won. Just tell them after the game..."leave the gates open...I have an engine problem...mechanic is on the way...I'll lock the gates when I leave".
