Mt. Rushmore to Yellowstone to Grand Tetons

Planning a trip for the summer and have campsite reservations inside Yellowstone secured already. Best route and favorite stopping points, suggestions?

•Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
•Potato Museum in Blackfoot, Idaho (my Daughter Pres. Sweet Potato Club IU Unv.)

•Las Vegas, Nevada
•Hoover Dam, Nevada/Arizona

We did stay in park @ Yellowstone & Grand Canyon. All others we just picked out while traveling depending on how much driving I was doing for the day. We all planned on taking turns driving (We never been out West) Did that ever change... I have Never driven in that type of wind. I loved every second but I could not give the wheel to my college Son or Daughter, with no MH Driving Experience. Not like driving from Indiana down I65 to Fla. driving no handed for miles......

Rushmore KOA is pretty cool. A nice KOA with tons of stuff for the kids to do (if you're bringing any) and there is a lodge/hotel on site if you have non-camping visitors.

Plus its only a few miles from Mt Rushmore.

govols61 - it is a GREAT road trip. Here are a couple of links that will help. You MUST pay attention to the roads into and out of the area. That is the first link. The second link has some great interactive help for things to do and see.

We stayed at a number of campgrounds but really enjoyed Buffalo Bill State Park - very close to Cody. We got to Cody just in time for a huge Native American Pow Wow. It was super for our grandkids.

Enjoy!!

While at Mt. Rushmore/Rapid City
visit
Custer State Park .. Buffalo roam free .. awesome sight
NORTH is Deadwood & Sturgis *interesting town when bikers are not there*
...note to biker friends...we are bikers...we just don't go during Bike Week .. too crazy for us !!
.in that same area is HaTonka ... a park and museum dedicated to the
American Buffalo/Bison and the Native American Nation.

South of Jackson Hole is Flaming Gorge and Vernal, Utah has an impressive
Natural History Museum with Dinosaur Dig.

Then...soooo much more to see in Utah !!

Enjoy !
