Canyon De Chelly in north east Arizona is fantastic and the Hubbell Trading post is neat also.

thanks for the tips.... especially that about Durango, CO. Sounds like it might be a good way to loop the route....
Actually, i prefer the nature stuff more, so I'm probably more like you.... although I don't mind a touristy place once in a while, if it has something redeeming about it.... DW is more about mixing in the more "urban" and heavier traveled.... although she like nature a bit too.... so together our preference blends someplace mid-spectrum

I actually have both of those places thumb tacked. Thanks for confirming, they might be worth a stop!

If you are going through Durango...then go to Mesa Verde and then into Monument Valley and you will drop down towards Page, AZ (Lake Powell has a great campground...reservations are recommended in summer months) ..and then down to the Grand Canyon...from that direction you have your choice of the North Rim or South Rim (the South Rim being busier)
