New Orleans area?

Any suggestions on RV parks west of New Orleans? We are heading that way in a couple days on our way to Phoenix (long way).

It depends on what types of parks you prefer...West of New Orleans off I-10 there isn't much.

However, off I-12 there are a few state parks near. Fountainbleau State Park in Mandeville is a nice quaint stop. Very few full Hookups, but all have 50amp service. Also Fairview/Riverside State park in Madisonville is nice as well. Some spots are close to the river. However, few full hookups.

If you are looking just for a quick night stop, bypass New Orleans and cut across I-12 to Baton Rouge and make a stop along that corridor. it will save you some time and fuel especially if you have no reason to stop in New Orleans.

If you are Stopping in New Orleans, there is a KOA in Kenner near the corner of Williams Blvd and Jefferson Highway near the Mississippi river. I had a colleague stay there for a few weeks when he was inbetween homes. He said it was quiet and peaceful there.

Save travels!

Thanks for the info. We are not going to New Orleans but would like to go to Avery Island and kinda explore the bayou areas west of N.O. We also are looking to explore the local eats. Probably spend a couple days down there.
