Panama City Beach Fl

Planning a quick trip to Panama City Beach, Fl in Feb/March 2020 and of course the state parks are booked. Does anyone recommend a private park in that area?

We stayed a few nights in Pineglen RV Park on US 98 just about a mile west of downtown PCB. It's a nice woodsy park and it was quiet. There are others closer to downtown, some with paver sites, etc., but they are next to high traffic streets.

just left PC BEACH RV RESORT right near the entrance to ANDREWS State Park, excellent place... a short walk to the beach, near amenities... fun.

also, CAMPERS INN Rv Park, near the other end of Thomas Drive, near amenities and kids activities...more rustic, lower pricing...

by the way, I see a LOT of sporadic availability at ANDREWS STATE PARK Campground, right at the end of the PC BEACH east end... you may have to move during your stay, but it's still possible if you don't to book all your nights at a single site... use the 'next available dates' view to see sites available during your timeframe...

Emerald Beach RV Resort is by far the finest on PCB. Five Star, gorgeous facility but a few blocks from the beach...still close to everything. If you want to walk to the beach, Turner's recommendation of PC Beach RV Resort would be the second best there. Camper's Inn is the total family experience and just across the street from beach. There are several others scattered around. Racoon River CG on Middle Beach Road is an older, good central location with tons of trees (tight) and close to everything. Pineglen on Back Beach Road is a pretty, older, spread out place but a good drive to most anything...it's close to Pier Park if the beach ball drop is in your plans. We'll be at the home there for the New Year. If you want free beer, stop by. We're on Lower Lagoon near Camper's Inn and a few blocks from the State Park just off Thomas Drive. So sadly, the typical Reserve America issue applies to St. Andrews State Park CG. I've never seen the place totally booked but you never can get reservations during peak weekends. People book them then don't show up. That entire system needs to be dumped and something new started that penalizes the entitled that book up great places all over the country...JIC they need them. If you want so me good recommendations for the best local food at those places you'll never hear about...PM me. We keep them under our hat.

Just read your post again...forget all that crap I said about New Year, etc. By FEB/MAR, we'll be living there full time so drop on by...anytime! Beer's always free!

also, when you say 'PC BEACH', that's typically the stretch between ANDREWS State Park on the east, and maybe a little past PIER PARK on the far west, but the 'gulf coast' stretches a LONG way, all the way to PENSACOLA Beach RV Resort at the far WEST end of the gulf, at least before you go up and over to Mobile...

we just drove the WHOLE stretch yesterday, and the 30a road for AlysBeach, SeaGrove, and those areas are just PACKED with people, and BIKES, bikes, bikes, everywhere!!

You can find excellent RV RESORTS all along the way - just google map it.

Yep...30A is like ants everywhere. It's one of those areas where it's acceptable to wear sweaters tied around your neck in the August heat...and bikes EVERYWHERE! Too many people for me but all along that coast is gorgeous.

Hey there, I’m a regular at PCB RV Resort in Sept and Oct. I would love to learn about those eating places that most don’t know. We always hit the same ones, but I know that locals and regulars find these places.

Just an FYI, FL sprig break is in March, Panama City is one of the biggest spring break places in the country, but the looks of all the college kids there, from all over. Plan wisely

Henderson beach State Park in Destin is positively lovely but booked solid usually. We did get in at the last minute last summer though, because they don't book up the unreserved handicap sites until the day of. Never hurts to call them! I've reserved 2 weeks in July of this year, but will be cancelling a few of those days. It happens!

That's changing real fast. Drinking on the beach is banned now during Spring Break. That's significantly cut down a lot of the "Baloney Sandwiches and Ten-In-A-Room" crowd. Most of the CG's mentioned in the above posts are on the far east end of the beach which is out of the direct effect of the traffic clogs.

I will put together a great list of great places to eat...lots of hole-in-the-wall places...but great food and pleasant local crowds.

IN the winter, FL is full. I'm a resident and figure I'll store the bus until March. It's just that way. You might say "winterizing" your RV in FL is not draining, adding antifreeze etc, it's just parking for a few months.
