Anyone know of a park in the Philly area, that is close to public transport that we can take to the historical sites?

Not close but we stayed at Brandywine cg. It's a 10 minute drive to the train then 40 minute train ride to Philly

One day in Philly was all we needed. Bought the pass for the all day on/off bus

Since I’m a local never tried this place, but it’s in Philly.

We stayed at the KOA Philly South (KOA website) campground last year. Since we had a car with us (it was a part of a whole PA trip--Pitt, Philly, Washington) we just drove into Philly so don't know much about public transit from there.

It is a nice campground, however.

There is The Campus Park and Ride which is basically a parking lot, but you can get anywhere in Philly from there (according to the reviews at that link).

While you're in the old section: don't forget to walk down Elfret's Alley...

Because the campus Park and Ride was closed we were going to Koa south, but my navigator booked Koa west instead. A little farther out but good size park n ride for the train. The only issue is if you have a large rig, I would not recommend it. The park is fine but the road getting there is very narrow with numerous overgrown trees and low having branches.

Philly South

My daughter lives in S. PHL. That KOA is south Jersey. The bridge tolls to and from Philly are ridiculous.

And bring LITTLE extra money. PHL has a sugar tax on soft drinks. Just sayin'...

We spent a week there this past summer while visiting family in the area, but didn't go into Philly. Nice campground, but be aware that the store has very limited food items. But there are supermarkets nearby.

And make sure your passengers and your dentures are secure before getting on I-295. Rumor is that the Army uses it as a durability test track for tanks.
