Prepped and ready to go...

Just finished dewinterizing, sanitizing and stocking the coach. On our way to Mandeville, LA for a two week build with Habitat for Humanity Care-a-vanners. Get to dry in a few houses which is awesome.

A 3 week “shakedown” before we head out on 1 April for 3.5 months. Doing the middle of the US from Canadian boarder to I-10 - TN, MO, NE, IA, SD, ND, MT, WY, UT, ID, AZ, CO
, NM, TX, OK, AK and back to NC- missing KS but will figure out how to get there. Can’t wait. Going to make good use of my National Park old fart pass.

Hey, Jimbo - Mickey Richaud, LA native here, now living in Townsend TN. The Habitat RV program looks interesting. A quick search of their website didn't answer my question, though: How long are you required to commit to helping?

Mickey,

The builds are all over the country and you pick the ones you are interested in. The typical commitment for a build is 2 weeks but we know folks who could only do one week. Other than that there is no commitment. HfH will want to do a background check on you at their cost. We do a build twice a year usually Dade City FL and one other. This is the current build page - http://www.habitat.org/cd/rv/schedule.aspx. Click on any location and the details of the work is provided.

Thanks, Jim! I notice you'll be staying at Fountainebleau St. Park. Senior year in high school in New Orleans, 1968. My church youth group had a picnic the day after our senior prom. Met my wife that day - she rode in the car I drove across the Pontchartrain. Big day!
