Pyramid Lake RV Resort
Anyone stayed at pyramid lake RV resort? We're going to be on the way home after 5 weeks out and it would be our last night out before home. Haven't driven the grapevine in years and this will be the first time in our Hurricane. Little concerned about the grade.

This year's Yelp reviews suck: https://www.yelp.com/biz/pyramid-lake-rv-resort-gorman
Have you thought about spending the night near Bakersfield and doing the Grapevine early in the day? But that would add 1-2 hours to your drive home. We spent a night near Button Willow in a small CG but I can't find it on the Google, sorry.

Don't sweat the grape vine. It's no problem for our mh. Handles it easy

We stayed at the CG at button willow behind the truck stop. It was a pit but ok for overnight. Couldn't find it on any search so don't know if it exists anymore. I think we'll stay in Bakersfield and hit the grapevine early. Not to much interested in doing thru after an already long tired drive.

Okay, good to know. We'll probably spend the night in Bakersfield and hit the grade early. Give ourselves a chance to rest . I try to keep the drive down to around 200 miles a day. Younger days would probably push it but these days no rush

Try to plan driving over the grapevine on Saturday or Sunday. That way the traffic will be lighter going through the st valley and I'd suggested driving the 210 east.
But I'm sure you know this already

Earlier morning would be best so you dont have to use your AC and your more likely to miss all the folks overheating who do too. Try to avoid the #4 lane because it's easier to dodge from #3 to #2 if you come up on a semi crawling up the road.

Saturday or Sunday isn't really an option but we will try to be on the road early. We'll be using the 210 to the 10. We have made this trip a few times in the past and the drive through Simi is a drag always.

Summerville Almond Tree RV Park Coalinga, CA
Over night stop, park in the middle of nowhere. Easy in and out. We'll get an early start tomorrow. Left a day early, wanted to miss the San Francisco traffic tomorrow morning.

Home
Out 5 weeks and glad to be home. I5 wasn't a bad drive for the most part. We hit the grapevine early enough we didn't have to worry about overheating. One scary note, a class A motorhome on its side in a gully. Highway patrol and a big rig tow truck to get it out. It was steep and they were probably going to have to close some lanes. Hope nobody was seriously injured.
