Riverton Utah Winter Trip

Getting the motor home out next week and prepping it for a week long trip in the snow. We plan on parking it in our friend's RV size driveway staying in it at night and seeing the sights during the day with our friends. I need to get it ready for some cold temps. Last year the average night time temp was 16 degrees and the daytime temp was 32 degrees. I wrapped the exterior sewer pipes with insulation and all of my water lines are not exposed. I have heated black and grey tanks and my fresh water tank has a furnace line that goes to it to keep the water from freezing including the fresh water pump. I recently bought an insulated cover for the door window and have the same for the windshield and front side windows as well as a curtain between the cab and the coach. Our friends have a 30 amp RV outlet that we will be using while parked. I still need to top off our propane tank before heading out the end of December. We plan on staying 7 days so the propane should not be an issue. We also use an electric portable heater inside most of the time. Our grandson loves the snow and is looking forward to another trip to Utah. We will not be towing our car with us on this trip since our friends have transportation. On the way up and way back, we will spend a night at the Casa Blanca Casino RV Park in Mesquite Nevada.

Paul

have fun. loot forward to hearing how it all worked out. We have yet to camp in the dead of winter. We do go up into the mountains with snow on the ground but in March and April when the temps are mid 30s at night.

We camp more in cold weather than hot for many reasons

Keeping the Diesel tank above 1/2 or even 3/4 is a priority

Avoiding opening compartments frequently is another

The only mod has been a heat tape in the wet bay on a thermostat

That plug is also on the inverter for travel

We do avoid driving on ice and deep snow by waiting or taking another route

Should temperatures be 10-15 or lower then rv antifreeze is added to the waste holding tanks prior to use

Enjoy

Inexpensive electric blankets.
The blankets with analog controls will work on Amazon/Alexa/echo.

Those
Pillow plugs
For roof vents.

My wife uses an electric blanket that can plug into 120 or 12 volt with an adapter to add heat while she sleeps.

54 degrees and hazy in the Salt Lake Valley today. No snow anywhere you can see, except for a bit on the peaks of the Cottonwood Canyons.

It's supposed to get a bit colder, but so far here very few freezing nights.

Maybe you'll bring the weather with you. Enjoy the pool at the Casablanca! My sister in law reports it's 75+ down there.

Thanks Greybear for the update. We do like the Casa Blanca and our stop over. They have low RV full hook up fees and the casino is a plus.

Our friends in Riverton Utah told me today that the snow has finally started falling around their house.

We returned from our Riverton Utah trip. We stayed a week in our motor home parked in our friend's driveway. It snowed twice on us while there. The temps dropped to 9 degrees the last two nights we were there. Daytime was a bit warmer at 20 degrees. All in all we had a great trip. Our grandson was able to play in the snow on a sled and we visited a couple of nice places(Aquarium and Thanksgiving Point). We used an electric heater plus our furnace to keep us warm while sleeping inside the motor home. I also put reflectrix insulation on every window to help maintain the heat inside.

Welcome back: we spent our time in Valencia visiting our daughter. 30s at night 60 day. Buckets of rain last week the pool breached the edges.
