Route around Birmingham AL

Figna head to Florida from Kentucky via I-65 South, and as anyone who has made that trip will tell ya, the patch of interstate through Birmingham is rough. I’m talking steelwool and broken glass toilet paper rough. Last time we drove through there, I thought my motorhome was gonna come apart at the seams. Are there any of our Alabamian friends (or frequent travelers) recommend a way/route to bypass Birmingham without losing too much time? Looked at a map...I’m not seeing a real suitable alternative. Was hoping someone could advise. Thanks!!

You can take 20 around to 459 and bypass 65 it's bad no joke we came thru last year felt the same as you. you r going to loose at least 30 min tho

Thanks One fat one. I was looking also at 31 which runs fairly parallel to 65, but looks like it goes through some pretty congested areas in Birmingham . I’ll be coming through fairly late at night...would this be a bad idea? Thanks!
