RV Parks/CG snap shots
Natchez Trace SP, TN
This thread will be a glimpse of places where we have parked our rig. We never boondock or stay in someone’s parking lot. We very seldom accept less than a FHU site. There will be no time line or geographical trail. We have always been meanderers. Most of the time we sort of pointed and parked somewhere at day’s end. There were exceptions for places we wanted to be at for more than 10 days. We like to do yard & flea market sales and boat and train rides.
I’m going to kick this thread off with pix of one of the largest FHU sites we ever used. And it was in a state park in TN.

Myrtle Beach, SC
KOA Myrtle Beach is expensive. They have many well enforced rules and charges for many things normally included in the base site prices at other RV Parks.
Almost all sites are under a large tree cover, making satellite TV connections unavailable. However, the FHU sites include basic CATV with about 40 channels.

We’ve stayed at this CG a half dozen times. It was where we first got introduced to gray water sites.
We found that reservations at this park are necessary to stay out of a gray water site.
Staying in a gray water site limits your stay time unless they have a “honey wagon” for black water or you have a "blue boy". We went to CW and got a 30 gal blue boy after our first stay at this CG.
The Odetha CG has a lot to offer and can be a really fun place for the family.
I’m including a picture of a gray water sewer connector for those not familiar with them.

Lemoore, CA
Because we’ve traveled to all of the lower 48, some might wonder why no pictures from some of the more populated states.
We are a retired military family. We’re qualified to stay at any military CG/RV Park. Places like FL, CA and TX are saturated with them. They are always safe and mostly well maintained with FHU, CATV & free laundry facilities. Some are very nostalgic for us as we were at one time or another stationed there.
For instance, this is a picture of a site at Naval Air Station, Lemoore CA. The base is a city within the gates. Schools to 8th grade, medical department, all sorts of on base housing, a shopping mall, commissary and now a full service RV Park. We lived aboard NAS Lemoore for 4 years in the 1970s.

Rawlings, WY
This picture was taken at Western Hills, CG at Rawlings, WY. Parking is kind of close and the sites in our area were grassless. However, the amenities are great. Our site was a FHU 50 AMPS with very good CATV provided. We spent 3 days riding up and down all the dirt roads in the Seminoe state park hunting for wild animal pictures. We found quite a few including a small herd of wild horses.
I see someone has posted pictures of freebie parking places. That’s good because we have none unless they had at the minimum, water/elect. However, we do carry a small Honda 2000 for emergencies.

Alabama, I-65
This was just an overnighter and we didn’t write down the name. It was at exit 128 or 130 off I-65. It was a Saturday afternoon and we wanted to stop short of Montgomery to make the transition to I-85 before noon on a Sunday morning when traffic is at its minimum.

Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, TX
This RV Park is now open to the public. If not a qualified military veteran you can call; 361-961-2267 and apply for a MWR guest card.
This RV Park has everything one would expect from a large military base including a large fishing pier jutting out into the bay.
In this picture we have a large site with a view of the bay and a covered patio. Just a few miles from the main gate, and across the bridge you’ll find Padre Island. Great surf fishing and you can drive right out on the beach.

Yermo, CA
This KOA is Called Barstow/Calico but its address is Yermo.
We had left from a two week stay at Las Vegas and were heading to Lemoore, CA. This was about half way and almost clear of the desert country.
When this park was built, they avoided cutting down large shrubs and small trees. Many of the FHU sites were like ours, nestled in shrub/trees.
Schools and collages were out for the summer and most of the worker bees were students. I had to salute the manager. Every young employee we met was very likeable and helpful. It was an enjoyable change from the KOA we stayed at in Las Vegas at the Circus Circus casino/hotel.
I'm going to make a little suggestion here. Notice that our slides are in? We opted for a single 15K A/C when we ordered our trailer. W did it to save weight for an optional washer/dryer. In really hot weather, with the slides retracted during our absents it will cool the trailer way down and be very comfortable upon our return.

New Boston, NH
This is a nostalgic picture because the conditions for RV parking such as depicted in this picture no longer exist. Today, tent camping and smallish RVs may dry camp there.
When we visited the New Boston AFS our site had 30 AMPs with water and gray water dumping was allowed. It was very quiet and we were the only large trailer there. There were no amenities on base but there was a Wal-Mart store at New Boston just a short drive away. Fishing in the lakes and ponds was great.
The feedback reports in the link below are quite accurate.

South Range, WI
When we stayed at Northland CG it turned out to be just what we hoped for. It’s smallish, rural, quiet, clean and for us, friendly. We were traveling US-2 across country and normally stayed at a central location for 10 days to two weeks. This CG allowed us to make side trips to Superior, WI and Duluth, MI. Our most rewarding side trip was taking a couple of days and making it all the way around the WI-13 highway loop. We even spent a night at the Legendary Waters Resort & Casino out at Red Bluff. WI-13 is a very scenic ride and were we to do it again we would book into the Buffalo Bay CG at Red Bluff.
NOTE: We have traveled all of the northern states from Maine to Oregon. Almost all rural CGs have fire rings. However, hardly any of them allow the use of firewood other than what they have on hand. Actually, in some states, it’s against the law for them to allow any use of firewood from some other state. Diseases is what they are trying to avoid.
From time to time you'll see we have our "bat" ant. extended. That's because Dish did not have permission to use ABC. Almost all local transmitters have ABC and normally quiet clear reception.
