Looks like a cross between campground park reviews and a blog.

Four Oaks, NC

We have long time friends from our Navy days that retired in the NC country town of Four Oaks. Whenever traveling up & down I-95 we pull in here at this family owned and managed KOA and visit with our friends. The KOA has a nice sized residential section and lots of fairly large short term sites. It’s a laid-back quiet country atmosphere with great services.

The site pictured here is a long pull-thru with FHU and CATV. It’s a very easy on & off I-95 for those that just want to spend a night resting from that busy highway.

Troy, AL

When just meandering from place to place we use a lot of US, State and rural roads/highways.

When heading north out of the FL pan handle, US-231 is a very nice highway. We travel it to Montgomery, AL and then connect up with US-82 over to MS.

We found an ideal overnight RV Park at Troy, AL, Deer Run. It's family owned and managed and has a little of everything, including fishing lakes/ponds. It caters to our particular traveling habits, FHUs with CATV.

Iola, KS

We were just meandering along going east on US-54 through the Kansas heartland. When we got to Iola we saw the Iola RV Park. It’s a very nice clean little park with FHUs and level pull-thru sites. We spent two nights. We spent nearly a whole day there, exploring the downtown area. They have a trolley ride and a veteran’s museum.

The link is active.

We took the 5th wheel south and spent 4 days at the Redwood Meadows RV Park. Nice place to visit, super close to several Redwood attractions/trails and the Smith River. Chose the 5th wheel over the Vegas as homebase in the 5th wheel is spacious / "lavish" and we had our truck to adventure in rather than adventuring in the 27' Vegas.

Impressive trees, beautiful river and great weather.

Savannah, GA

When our granddaughter was attending Atlantic State University at Savannah, we would stop and visit with her. She hardly ever spent any extra money on herself so we would take her out for a nice full course dinner.

The most convenient RV Park was KOA Savannah just off I-95. Its property location is old and in a very low area. However, when dry, the sites are FHU with CATV and mostly pull-thru.

There is a large retention pond/lake and it’s loaded with pan fish and black bass. With a little luck you may get a 5 lb. bass, Cal did.

Iron Mountain, MI

Crossing the Michigan Upper Peninsular on US-2 in the late spring/early summer time is an experience you will well remember. The campgrounds are family oriented with friendly, helpful staff members. The countryside is lush in fresh growth and wild animals are everywhere.

On this trip from east to west we were just meandering from campground to campground only calling ahead each traveling day to ask for a place to stay. Some travel days were a little longer than others but we always ended-up finding a place to park for a day or two before moving on again, and that’s how we found the Summer Breeze CG.

Our site was a FHU on a large grassy site. The section we parked in was a haphazard arrangement but easy to use once we found it. We were there on midweek days so it was quiet and restful. We were making so many stops during our travel days we were only averaging about 200 miles a day. By the time we got to Salt Lake City and turned south it was almost late fall and we even ran into some sleet in Rawlings, WY.

Sutherland, NB

While heading west on I-80 in southwestern NB, we spotted a little golf course backed up to a reservoir lake with a huge power plant on the far side. We saw a few smallish RV trailers parked there so we decided to investigate. It was a little early in the afternoon and we had no reservations. The little RV park at the golf course had nice large FHU sites right on the lake. The sites were level and by the time we got our rigs set up for the night my friend Don and I had a golf cart and were headed for the first tee. Later, as the sun was going down, we had a nice supper on the lake while watching the birds coming and going. They were getting their last drink of water before heading to their roosting places.

This is one of those places you just don’t find in the books or on the internet. Thank you Sutherland, NB.

For us this was a typical drive-in CG. Drive in, ask for a FHU. If they have one we stay if not, drive on.

Twin Bridges CG was a nice stop. We got a grassy site with 50 amps FHU. The CG store was very well supplied and even had fishing bait. We stayed for two nights and got all our laundry washed and dried. We play a lot of cribbage during laundry hours with the single unit washer/dryer. We went right across the park street and got some nice pan sized catfish from the stream. We never did disconnect. They had a community fire ring going each evening and all kinds of traveling stories were told there.

The transit to and from I-81 was easy with a fueling station close to the highway entrance. The CG was a work in progress and I’m sure there have had lots of improvements since we were there.

One time while crossing TX on I-20 we spent a week at Treetop RV Resort in downtown Arlington, TX. It’s a well established, secluded park and very quiet for its location.

We had a nice long pull-thru site close to the seasonal/residential area. Indoor activities include card games, bingo, and a nice lounge area with a very well stocked library/book swapping area. If you’re interested in staying there you should read their directions tab. You could end up going the wrong way and have a hard time finding a place to turn-around…voice of experience.

Their Wi-Fi was very good and our site had free CATV – about 65 channels
