Spring Break - VA and NC

We live in MD. 2 adults and a 9-year old son. For spring break the week of April 10 we are planning:
- 2 nights at Shenandoah River State Park, VA
- 2 nights at Hickory Nut Falls campground near Chimney Rock, NC
- 3 nights at Fairy Stone State Park, VA

It will be our first time at all of these places.

Oh, forgot to mention that the elevator at Chimney Rock is broken right now, so be prepared to climb stairs! The good news is ticket prices are reduced accordingly.

I agree, beautiful area! We went to Shenandoah state park last June with our two teens. We had a great time tubing. Probably a little early in the season for that! A heads up.. We had trouble getting Verizon coverage at the state park. I was using my phone as gps ... a nice ranger printed out directions to our next location. That taught me to have a back up map.
