KOA - generally a full service stay (LP, store, even some wine tasting, etc). Most times the KOAs are more than we'd like to spend - we are retired Army and have access to lots of military FAMCAMPs. Not sure I'll renew with KOA.

Hope this helps.
We just spent 4 days at the Pointes West Army Resort near Augusta on Lake Strom Thurman. $14 a night.... we'll be searching out National Parks and FAMCAMPs

I was Escapees member for a year but it seems that they mostly cover the western half of the country. We just joined FMCA and it seems nice.... looking forward to their Rallys and enjoy their informative mag.. We Use Good Sam for the fuel and stuff discounts .. and the dump stations at Camping World 3 miles away. The Senior access pass is a great value for National Parks. As retired military, we have enjoyed "some" of the FAMCAMPS, but some are pretty stark.

Since you are from NC, you should check out the Military campground at Camp Lejeune. It's right on Onslow Beach.

Also, anyone in Maryland the NAS Pax River Recreation Facility is right on the river, has full hookups, and a great fishing pier, and I think it was only like $35 a night.

The FAMCAMPS are great! We use the one in Key West for visits all the time.

The national park senior pass is now $10, not free.

We belong to the Good Sam Club and their local chapter. Not all chapters are the same but ours have campouts once or twice a month during the summer that are a lot of fun.

There are some savings, 10% of at Good Sam parks, some gas savings and an endless stream of junk mail which has some savings for members.

Our chapter is mostly older RVers, but as I said, different chapters are different and yours might be completely different than ours.
