Where did you go for the 4th of July?

Okay just a fun question for now, but hope to generate ideas for next years' vacation with this Post. Since I am still self-employed I have one week off for the 4th and one week for Christmas.
This 4th we went to an Army Corp Engineers (ACE) camp ground called "Old Federal" on Lake Lanier Ga. Some 40 miles away from Atlanta.
You get electric and water (no sewer), but for 9 days it was $129.00 thanks to the 50% discount with our Sr. Pass (avail at all ACE for those over 62). The lake is outstanding, the facilities nice and clean, the staff very helpful and acess very easy.
Below are a couple of pictures of our site (52 one of the best locations) and our July 4th Patriotic Guard welcoming committee.

Looks like a lot of fun. I especially like the flag across the front of the RV.

We usually don't go anywhere for the 4th as its too close to our son's birthday. This year was different and we ended up spending our 4th in Southern FL (not camping though). I can't see why you people would want to live in FL throughout the summer--I was uncomfortable from the time I got off the plane until I landed back in MI! LOL

We were up in the same neck of the woods on Lake Hartwell at Carolina Landings RV Resort. We were there from the 1st to the fourth. Short review of the campground = don't bother.

We spent most of the time sightseeing, Brasstown Bald, Anna Ruby Falls, made the mistake of trying to go through Helen on Sunday, Stumphouse Tunnel, Issaqueena falls, Duke World of Energy, and Oconee Station Falls.

Great trip for us and no traffic south to north Florida on the fourth.

Jamie, as a kid in Fl the summer was when the snowbirds would leave and toursit with their tourist money came in! My brother and I would catch gold fish out of the creek that ran past our housing area, put them in baby food jars with a piece of underwater plant and sell them for 25 cents on the roadside (it was 1960). Cheaper than lemonade and all profit!
Granted, I have not spent many summers back in Fl since 1963!

Tfryman, thanks for the heads up on Carolina Landing.
