08 thor 3070 water pump issues

I bought an 08 jazz by thor 3070 recently. The water pump works great when the fresh water tank is completely full but after use about 10 gallons it starts to suck air from the low pressure "tank" side of the pump. I cant see any leaks at all i made sure the clear filter on the pump was clean and put it back on. Im hoping i dont have to take the bottom off and look at the line from the tank to the pump and hoping someone has some insite on what i can do or need to check before i do that. Thanks!

That sounds like a loose fitting that will hold back the water in the tank (low head pressure) but starts to suck air in when the pump runs and the head pressure from the tank has decreased a bit.

Also look for a kink or compression of the line from the tank to the inlet of the pump. I am not familiar with your 5th'er but tracing the line could uncover something. Also look for a winterizing valve on the pump inlet side, sometimes these will cause the same if they leak or are not 100% off.

Good luck.

head pressure

The valve to drain the fresh water tank does have a constant drip could that be where it is sucking air from? I just barely realized it was leaking i was more concentrated on inside of the trailer. Im hoping that is the case.

Also check for plastic drill shavings in the fittings of the waterline. I had them clog the line before the filter.

Tighten the black fittings that go into the pump. These have a cone washer inside and the rubber can shrink just enough to break the prime on the pump inlet but not leak water. Hand tighten only although on the one's without the ears you may need a pump wrench.

There may be several depending on how they plumbed your unit.
