I'd expect there to be holes for pins... but if not, you can certainly drill some (others have done so to have the bunk 'rest' at a height other than 'full up'...)
It will move down if not secured in place via pins or some other means.
Running the bunk up and down (once you can get to an extreme - HOLD the button about 5 seconds... If you can complete a down/up cycle that way , the motors will be resynched... (might take a few times to get there if it is at an angle now...)
Here's a youtube video from Schwintek - the makers of the slide mechanism used by Thor... The same system is used in the bunks.
