Direct tv in RV

If you have Direct service at home and in your RV is it possible to change your service in the RV so you are able to get local stations wherever you camp at

I look forward to this thread. I want to do the same thing and many, including a guy this weekend at the race said he does just that. We have the base home, a home in PCB and now the MH. Would love one system we could carry around and just program where we are.

From what I've read over at IRV2 it is possibly but not necessarily easy.

If you just want the 5 networks feeds, then you want Distant Network Services (DNS) + PBS. This allows you to set up genies to record from the east/west channels even while at home, so no change is required at home or on the road for the season passes. As for changing your service address, it can be done but ATT has made it difficult. The trick is to call the mobile service division of DirecTV and not the home service number. At best, it is cumbersome system. The HR44/54 and HS17 all are WiFi internet capable so you can get all the second chance programs over the Internet as well as the Pay-for-View stuff.

We are full timers with Direct TV, and we hit a lot of different locations each year. If I'm going to be in a location for more than just a few days I call Direct TV and give them a new service address. It's really painless.

That's what the guy at Atlanta Dragway said. He calls DTV and they walk him through the process. He's never had an issue and he uses the same system when he gets back home. They want to keep your business. The internet connections are a good system (HULU, etc.) but I would like a setup where I don't have to have internet to get TV.
