New Outlaw 29h ...leaking garage A/C

Frist rain on my new 29h outlaw and I noticed water puddling on the garage floor under the small a/c....after closer inspection the water was coming from the A/C enclosure. Took the trim off the enclosure and removed the small 5000btu window unit from the enclosure..looked up and saw nothing but sky! It seems Thor utilizes a refrig. Vent on the top of the RV for the garage A/C ventilation...well on this one they forgot to put the vent cover on!...So I call customer service and explain the issue...was told I had to take it to dealer...I explained to the customer rep. that is would be more expedient and less expensive if they would just send me the damn forgotten cover and I would put it on...they have to check on that and get back to me...so no call back in a day..I just ordered the 20$ cover from amazon, be here tomorrow.

It seems that Thor is very aware of their quality control issues, but have taken a stance of attrition to wear down the consumers. This is one of many issues with this new RV. Most I have managed to correct myself, including this one, but I thought it would have been nice of them to at least furnish the missing cover! So it looks that common sense is not a business factor at Thor Motor Coach Inc...I mean, send the guy who just plucked 80k down for one of your products a frickin 5$ plastic cover and move on..but no....attrition to the end...so that 5$ frickin plastic cover is going to cost them a lot more hopefully in lost sales as I am determine to make it my passion to let as many people know of just what you are getting if you buy a Thor product...

I own a 29h too. Congratulations might seem odd as a response but hey, I'm an optimist. I haven't encountered any serious functionality issues. But I would like to know "where's Ralph Nader when you need him"?

I also have a 2017 29h. In order to keep my sanity, I fix everything myself. Bought it a year ago. I took it back three times with punch lists. Dealer only fixed one or two items each time. Worked with tech support, questioned the quality and was told hey it's under warranty why complain! I could sit here and list the twenty or so fixes/modifications from the front end being out of line to paneling popping off the wall to kitchen sink drain breaking off the grey tank.

At this date I like what I have, everything works. Only complaint now is the soft brake pedal.

Those little units are just like the ones that you hang from a window in your house: just make sure that they tip to the outside a little bit!

You are right Bob..
When I removed the unit, it sets on a metal bracket attached to the wooden frame of the enclosure. My frame was only secured by two screws( one on each side) and they were not fully screwed in. Removed the brackey got six deck screws and to ensure the tilt to the outside put double sided tape on botton 1/4 of bracket...plus put double sided tape on ac unit front feet ( it had no way to secure it to bracket, so it slides)...now just waiting on my vent cover...

While it's no fun having to fix stuff: it can at least be satisfying, when you do!
Congratulations!

New Outlaw 29h ...leaking garage A/C

Update....received a call from Thor customer rep. he said they would reimburse me for the cover I ordered through Amazon. Looks like there was a misunderstanding on our communication as to just what I needed ( must be my southern drawl)... anyway...moving on...like many I have chose to repair as much as possible....some of the items should have been detected by dealer, Motor Home Specialist...and I can relate to the quality issues by Thor as having been involved with tier 1 manufacturing for a major auto builder. The quality of production workers and craftsmen in our country is severely lacking. Kids coming out of HS without basic math skills, couldn't show you the difference in 1/4" to 1/2" on a scale..most stay drug free long enough to get hired..I am sure Thor is experiencing theses pains as well, trust me it's a real struggle in today's manufacturing environment...anyway, I am satisfied with Thor's response to this issue and look forward to utilizing my RV...

You know the more I think about it...dealer should have caught this since the unit was built 12/2016 and I purchased 7/ 2017...must only rains in Texas once a year...but they surley get it when it does!
