A/C Filter Question

On my 31L the foam A/C filter was being sucked into my A/C unit, I think something is missing. How is the filter supposed to be attached to keep that from happening, where can I purchase a new one?

I think that washable stuff gets flimsy as it gets old. Mine did the same thing

I just happened to be able to grab some pictures of mine

This is one of those cut to size filters from the hardware store
like this one, except I'm not sure of which filtration level I bought
Web 25 in. x 30 in. x 1 in. Eco Plus Adjustable FPR 4 Air Filter-WP2530FPR - The Home Depot

I'm pretty sure the little clip rings came with the filter, meant to clip the filter element to the black grid
As you can see I clipped them through the AC's diffuser grill

I mentioned this to you before, but for others' benefit, I would suggest not getting a very high filtration level. I found that mine restricts airflow a bit more than I'd like.....and yeah, I can see it's a bit dirty now

Anyway, my suggestion is to get some hardware cloth or something similar, along with some new filter media that's just a bit stiffer then the old stuff and zip tie it like mine is....

Mine has 4 Velcro pieces that hold the filter in place. The Velcro is attached to the frame and sticks to the foam. No Velcro on the foam. Just use the coarse side of the Velcro to stick to the frame.

Same with mine. The filter media kept coming loose, so I added extra velcro around the edges of the frame. I also keep a few extra pre-sized pieces of filter for changing filter.

The velcro is still on the cover but no way will that filter stick, bad design.....

You may want to check into getting the aggressive type of velcro. The velcro I used was the aggressive type that has larger hooks on it. I think I had to glue the velcro to the cover also since it did not come with the sticky back. The foam filter media really sticks now.

This is my solution, I cleaned the filter used chicken wire and some very small zip ties.

Thanks again to all that replied.
