2016 Windsport 31S Shower Drain Leak

Hello, Mike Floetker here. I have a Windsport 31S that I purchased almost 4 years ago. My latest issue is a leak in my shower drain. My problem with this problem is I don't see an easy access to the drain. I am blocked on 3 sides for any access. The 4t side is in the hallway and it appears to be a thin panel. Has anyone here removed that panel easily. Can I drill a hole and put a wingnut on it to pull it out, and put a plug cover in after repair? or do I get out my sabre saw and either cut the panel or cut an access hole in it? Has anyone been there/done that before?

Mike Floetker

It looks like the shower may be over a wheel well? If so, there is usually an access panel above the wheels for access to the shower pan drain area.

Update: Access hatch found. Thanks. Hopefully I don't have to go there. In the meantime, I noticed a possible leak at the bottom of the door support piece. I have tried sealing with silicone and it appears to have made it through the first shower without leaking.

I have a 34r and don’t know how similar our floor plans are. I just fixed a shower leak. I carefully removed the hallway panel that backed up to the shower faucet. It is attached with small staples. Can be removed with care to avoid damage. This also gave me access to see under the pan and check for floor drain leaks. My source of leak was bad or lack of caulk between the pan, the surround and the shower door frame. I contacted Thor and they sent me framing layout for the bathroom and then I got info on shower door manufacturer, the pan manufacture and the surround maker. I got in touch with the suppliers and they sent me their install instructions so I could see how it was supposed to go together.
Thor and the suppliers were all very helpful. Once I had the info it was easy to remove the wall and then reinstall. To reinstall I used small brads w nail gun. You have to look very hard to see that it was removed. While I had the wall open I also changed the shower faucet!
No more leak. Good luck
