2018 Chateau 31W water filter

Greetings again! I'm trying to find out if the water filter (located under the bed) filters water from the onboard fresh tank or the city water, or both. I have the schematic from Thor, but it's not unit specific and does not show the filter in the diagram.

Essentially, I'm trying to figure out if I need to use an external filter before the city water inlet, or does the city water go through the onboard filter before it's distributed?

Many thanks!!

They are usually set up to filter the entire water supply.
But it never hurts to throw an extra filter at the city water spigot.

I noticed (the one time I got to go out last summer) that adding a filter outside had dropped the pressure so much that showering was almost impossible. That's why I was asking the question. Thanks for the reply, Bob!

I use a regulator from Valterra to bring the pressure up to 53 psi.

Now I'm confused. I thought a pressure regulator brought the pressure DOWN to an acceptable level for the RV plumbing. Never heard of one that brought the pressure UP, unless I misunderstood the device itself.

No such thing as a pressure regulator to increase pressure. You could take city water and pump it and then regulate back down but a typical regulator let's what ever is there through until you reach it's set level and holds it constant from there as the supply pressure increases.

Thanks Pete. That's what I thought.
