Window Blew Off!

Driving down I 75 yesterday one of the frameless windows blew off and hit another car. We’ve sealed the opening with a special plastic. Need to order a mew window frame and all according to repairman, but he says the dealer takes around 6-10 weeks to get them in for him.
Has anyone ordered direct from Thor?

Thor gets them from a manufacturer, doubt they would have one in stock.

Are you in Florida? These folks did great for me a couple of years back.

https://suncoastdesigners.com/

They do maintain some stock of the tempered glass in sizes there.

Good luck!

At least that's some good news...
Good luck in getting it replaced.

Yikes! That’s the stuff of nightmares. Glad nobody was hurt and you’re on top of it.

Please report this incident to the NHSTA. Thor needs to be put on notice by safety regulators for their poor and unsafe construction techniques.

While I agree with reporting to NHTSA, the fault isn't clear. Could have been bad installation or material defects in the window kit. In either case, if it's more than a one-off, a recall might be in order.

I hate it when that happens!

We almost lost one of the windows behind the dinette on our Windsport back in the fall of '18 - only the second "serious" trip we made in the rig. Just happened to catch a glimpse of it flapping from the side-view mirror. Luckily light traffic, so I could slow down to about 35mph until I could find a place to stop and check it out.

The twist-handle for the tilt open/close mechanism was stripped.....

Luckily I had some duct tape available to secure it down until we got home, and could get a "size larger" screw into the handle.
