Hi all, Recently we were in Yosemite and camped at Tuolumne Meadows which is located at about 9000 feet above sea level. And, darn, it got cold up there, in fact down to 24 degrees in the mornings. When we attempted to heat the unit the furnace cycled on and off, (in reality it was not getting enough fire to hold in the the thermocouple). So we could hear it start to burn, and then it would stop and the fan would run for 10 to 15 seconds and the burner would try to ignite. We shut it down. The next day we let it keep cycling and eventually (5 to 10 minutes) it lit and stayed lit.
I have heard that at elevation a system requires different air mixtures or pressures or? Any thoughts?
Back at sea level it took two cycles for it to ignite but seems okay.
Appreciate the feedback. I haven't called the mfg yet but will do so as well. For sure, not camping at elevation until next summer and not in late Sept
By the way, it is an Atwood Furnace. Thanks for your input
